Use this skill to discover new capabilities, optimize search queries, and simplify skill setup with OpenSkills. This provides a unified way to extend environment functionality.
When to Use
- When the user requests certain features that you currently do not have.
- When the task is complex, belongs to a specific domain, or is repeatedly blocked after 2 attempts.
- When better skills may exist (for example: web browsing, GitHub integration, database management, cloud infrastructure).
Workflow
- Search the registry:
- Run:
npx oneskill search "<query>" [options] - Supported options:
--category、--limit、--offset、--sort。 - Example:
npx oneskill search "browser" --sort starsnpx oneskill search "" --category database --limit 5
- Run:
- Analyze the results:
- Identify the best match, or refine the query and search again.
- Confirm with the user:
- Explain what the skill does and where it comes from.
- Install after obtaining explicit approval (using openskills):
- Run:
npx openskills install <slug-or-repo> - Example:
npx openskills install anthropics/skills
- Run:
- Handle environment-specific setup:
- Gemini CLI users:
openskillswill not automatically configure Gemini. After installation, youmustrun the mapping command:npx oneskill map --target gemini(if it is a global installation, add--global)
- Gemini CLI users:
- Apply the new skill to complete the original request。
OpenSkills Basics
npx openskills install <source> [options]# Install from GitHub, a local path, or a private repositorynpx openskills sync [-y] [-o <path>]# Update AGENTS.md (or custom output)npx openskills list# Show installed skillsnpx openskills read <name># Load skills (for use by the agent)npx openskills update [name...]# Update installed skills (default: all)npx openskills manage# Remove skills (interactive)npx openskills remove <name># Remove a specific skill
Example:
npx openskills install anthropics/skillsnpx openskills sync
Default setup: install locally in the project (./.claude/skills, or with --universal parameter, install in ./.agent/skills). Use --global to install in ~/.claude/skills。
Safety Reminders
- Do not install without explicit user confirmation.
- Avoid using unless the user agrees to overwrite the existing target.
--force-map。 - Use openskills to install/update; OneSkill only provides search and mapping for Gemini.
- For Gemini, run after installation
npx oneskill map --target gemini。 - The default installation/mapping is project-local, the same as openskills; for global installation use
--global。 - When installing OneSkill itself, it is recommended to use
--global, so that it is available across projects.
