Write short, personalized, and easy-to-follow-up investor communications.
When to Activate
- When sending a cold email to an investor
- When writing a brief note requesting a warm intro
- When sending a follow-up email after a meeting or when no reply has been received
- When writing investor updates during a fundraise
- When tailoring outreach to a fund's thesis or partner fit
Core Rules
- Personalization: Every message sent must be personalized.
- Low friction: Make it as simple and direct as possible for the reader to respond or act.
- Let data speak: Use facts (proof) to prove your points more, and pile on adjectives less.
- Keep it concise: Be brief and to the point.
- No templates: Never send a generic copy that could be sent to any investor.
Cold Email Structure
- Subject Line: Short and specific
- Opener: Why you are reaching out to this specific investor
- Pitch: What the company does, why now, and what core data/proof points there are
- Ask: One specific next step
- Sign-off: Name, title, and if necessary, one credibility endorsement point
Personalization Sources
Refer to one or more of the following:
- Relevant portfolio companies
- Public investment thesis, talks, posts, or articles
- Shared connections
- Clear market or product fit with the investor's areas of focus
If this context is missing, ask the user for it, or state that the draft is a template awaiting personalization.
Follow-Up Cadence
Default recommendation:
- Day 0: First outreach
- Day 4-5: Brief follow-up providing one new data point
- Day 10-12: Final follow-up, closing cleanly
Do not continue nudging after this unless the user requests a longer sequence.
Warm Intro Requests
Make it easy for the introducer:
- Explain why this intro is a fit
- Provide a forwardable blurb
- Ensure the forwardable blurb is within 100 words
Post-Meeting Updates
Include the following:
- The specific matters discussed
- Promised answers or updates
- If available, provide one new data proof point
- Next steps
Quality Gate
Self-check before delivery:
- Is the message personalized?
- Is the ask clear?
- Is there no fluff or begging language?
- Are the data proof points specific?
- Is the word count concise?
