Core features
- Generate complete chapter content based on the outline and detailed outline
- Automatically adapt to web novel pacing: grab attention at the beginning, include conflict in the middle, leave suspense at the end
- Maintain consistency in character personality and plot logic
- Support custom chapter length (default 2000-3000 words/chapter)
- Support continuing, modifying, and adjusting existing chapter content
Continuation rules
Continuation modes
Support multiple modes such as continuation, rewriting, expansion, and condensation
Continuation notes
- Maintain consistent character personality, no OOC (Out Of Character)
- Maintain the power system and worldview established earlier without collapse
- Foreshadowing should be recovered naturally, not abruptly
- Keep the language style consistent with the previous text
- Continue the previous plot and set up foreshadowing for the following text
- If existing chapter content is incomplete, prioritize completing it
Multi-chapter generation
Support continuous generation of multiple chapters, automatically generated in chapter order
Parallel batch writing with sub-agents (recommended for large numbers of chapters)
When a large number of chapters (>10 chapters) need to be generated at once, automatically enable sub-agent mode, with each chapter completed by an independent sub-agent, fully context-isolated, avoiding context overflow and token waste:
Core advantages
- ✅ Context isolation: each sub-agent does not carry historical chapter content, thoroughly solving long-context compression/overflow issues
- ✅ Speed improvement: multiple parallel writing, speed is N times that of serial writing
- ✅ Error isolation: failure in a single chapter generation does not affect other chapters, automatically retry failed chapters
- ✅ Memory optimization: sub-agents are automatically destroyed after completion, releasing memory resources
- ✅ Incremental writing: save immediately after each chapter is completed to
.sumeru/write/draft/, no need to wait for all to complete
Scheduling logic

Output content
- Complete chapter content, conforming to the specified style and pacing
- Next chapter content preview/idea suggestions
- Summary of key plot points in this chapter
- Hints for foreshadowing planted in this chapter (optional)
- Summary of character growth/changes (optional)
Data persistence
Formal output (visible to the user)
- Generated chapters are saved by default under the current working directory's
chapters/with naming format:第{num}章_{标题}.mdorchapter-{num}.md - Chapter files are pure body text content, without any intermediate markers or metadata, and users can directly read and edit them
- Support custom chapter output directory
Intermediate process data (used internally by the system, not shown to the user)
All intermediate states, metadata, and progress information are saved uniformly to the .sumeru/write/ directory:
progress.json: Creation progress tracking, including completed chapters, word count statistics, and status of each chapterchapter-meta.json: Metadata for each chapter, including core events, characters appearing, highlight positions, and foreshadowing recordscharacter-state.json: Dynamic tracking of character status, recording changes in each character's abilities, relationships, and status at each point in timeauto-save/: Automatic snapshot directory; a version is automatically saved after each chapter is completed to prevent content lossagent-logs/: Sub-agent run logs and temporary cache
Breakpoint recovery
- After an interruption, calling again will automatically read the existing chapter files under the
chapters/directory and the.sumeru/write/progress.jsonprogress - Continue from the latest incomplete chapter and automatically skip chapters that have already been generated
- Supports resuming creation from a specified chapter
- Can read outline data from the
.sumeru/outline/directory to automatically fill in chapter parameters - When continuing writing, automatically read the previous character status and plot threads to maintain consistency
