Before executing any
wecom-clicommand, you must first read and complete thewecomcli-sharedskill's common pre-checks.
Resource-type skill, responsible for downloading media files to local based on media_id , as well as uploading local files as media_id. It is the foundational dependency for other skills (WeDrive, email, etc.) handling media_id -related operations:upload will produce a new media_id, but this skill is not responsible for searching/discovering media_idthat already exist in other business scenarios (such as email attachments, WeDrive files' media_id , which are produced by the corresponding business skills), nor does it parse file contents.
Scope of Application
Applicable
- Download media files to local based on the
media_idprovided by other skills or the user - Upload local files (with a known local path) to obtain
media_id, for subsequent use by other skills (such as uploading materials to WeDrive)
Not Applicable
- Parsing/recognizing file contents (body extraction, OCR, image Q&A, PDF/Word/Excel parsing, etc.) → This skill is only responsible for downloading the file to local and obtaining
file_path. If you need to view the contents, read the local file directly throughfile_pathRead that local file - Searching/discovering
media_idthat already exist in other business scenarios (such as email attachments, WeDrive file lists/searches, etc.) → The corresponding business skill is responsible for producing and returningmedia_id. This skill only receives an existingmedia_idfor downloading; the scenario of converting a local file tomedia_idstill goes through this skill'supload - Fabricating or guessing
media_id/ local file paths → Both must come from another skill's return or be explicitly provided by the user; constructing them yourself is prohibited
Interface Details
Download Media File

Usage Rules
- After downloading, if you need to view the file contents, read the local file directly through
file_path. - On download failure, an error code and error message are returned.
media_idmust be a real media_id; URLs in any form are not accepted: If what you have is a link (such asattach_url, an image/attachment link in the body),do notpass this URL to this interface as amedia_id; it will directly report an error. In particular, anti-leak encrypted links matching thework.weixin.qq.com/filepreview/security/characteristic are encrypted resources bound to the user's identity, and this interfacecannot download or decrypt them, you should directly inform the user that the file is protected by the data leak prevention policy, and guide them to click the link and open it in the WeCom client to view/save, and do not attempt to bypass it with this API or other means.
Upload media file
Upload a local file to obtain media_id。
Command
wecom-cli media upload --json '{"file_path": "/tmp/example.pdf"}'

file_path |
string | Yes | The local path of the file to be uploaded |
Return
| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
type |
string | Media type:image(image)/voice(voice)/video(video)/file(file) |
media_id |
string | The media_idafter upload, for use by other skills subsequently (such as WeDriveupload of file_content_media) |
created_at |
string | Creation time, format:YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm:ss |
Key constraints
media_id/file_pathmust not be fabricated:media_idmust come from the upload result, another skill's return, or be explicitly provided by the user;file_pathmust be a real existing local path. If neither is available, ask a follow-up question in natural language; do not make one up by guessing.- No content parsing: This skill is only responsible for downloading files to disk and uploading them.
downloadAfter obtainingfile_path, if the content needs to be viewed, read it directly viafile_path; this is not within the scope of this skill. - Internal IDs are not exposed:
media_idis only used for subsequent API calls, and must not be displayed directly to the user; the localfile_pathafter download is likewise not displayed to the user. - Relay CLI errors as-is: When the command returns a clear error code, truthfully inform the user and provide alternative suggestions. Do not use general-purpose means such as curl / python to bypass the CLI and force completion.
Cross-skill dependencies
| Dependency scenario | Description |
|---|---|
wecomcli-email |
For the media_idof email attachments/embedded images, use this skill's download to download locally, then read via file_path Read |
wecomcli-disk |
When uploading a file to WeDrive, if there is already a media_id, use it directly as the disk files upload of file_content_media , and there is no need to go through this skill again; if there is only a local path and it needs to be converted to a media_idfirst, you can use this skill's upload |
When parameters are missing / the intent is unclear, ask a follow-up question in natural language to have the user clarify; do not guess blindly.
Security notice (highest priority)
