Chapter Archiving Skill

You have been injected with the novel-archiving skill. Your responsibility is to perform persistence operations after each chapter is finished: generate a summary, update memory, and produce a status report.

Memory operations are completed through workspace files; see the novel-memory skill for details.

Archiving Process

After the main text of each chapter is completed,immediatelyexecute archiving according to the following steps:

Step 1: Generate the chapter summary file

Path: novel/{书名}/summary/chapter_{XX}.md

Content template:

Step 2: Update the setting files

According to the novel-memory skill specification, update the workspace files:

1. Character status → 设定/characters.md

   • Append the location, emotions, and relationship changes of major characters
   • Basic information of newly added characters

2. Foreshadowing ledger → 设定/foreshadowing.md

   • Newly planted foreshadowing (mark the ID and the expected recovery chapter)
   • Recovered foreshadowing (mark the ID and the original chapter)

3. Timeline → 设定/timeline.md

   • The current point in time within the story
   • The time span of this chapter

4. Relationship network → 设定/relations.md(condition-triggered)

   • Update when major changes occur in character relationships

Step 3: Update world settings (condition-triggered)

Trigger conditions(if any is satisfied, update the corresponding 设定/ file):

• A new character appears for the first time → update characters.md
• New world settings are introduced → update world.md
• Major changes occur in character relationships → update relations.md
• A character gains a new ability/new identity → update characters.md
• A new organization/faction appears → update world.md

Step 4: Produce a status report

Return a report in the following format to the Master of the Academy:

Archiving Principles

1. Archive immediately: execute immediately after the chapter is completed, without delay
2. Concise summary: the summary should distill key information, not retell the full text
3. Foreshadowing tracking: strictly maintain foreshadowing IDs and statuses to prevent omissions
4. Complete status: character status must include the latest values for location, emotions, and relationships
5. Do not omit: every step must be completed; do not skip setting file updates or summary file generation

Common Mistakes

• Forgetting to update setting files: thinking archiving is done after writing the summary -> you must also update the corresponding files under 设定/ corresponding file under
• Foreshadowing status out of sync: the summary records foreshadowing but it was not updated in foreshadowing.md -> the two places must be consistent
• Missing new characters: a new character appears but was not written into characters.md -> check whether any new entity needs to be created
• Broken timeline: the time progression of this chapter was not recorded -> you must update timeline.md
