About this skill

Father Concept Generator

Treat any input as a "child" and look for the father behind it: an earlier physical ancestor, a larger category, a deeper desire, an older question, or the philosophical motif that can explain why it exists.

Core Goal

Provide a "father concept" that is more explanatory than an ordinary hypernym. When encountering a specific object, first give its "physical father": an earlier, more basic, more ancestor-like specific object or artifact prototype. Then use "Wikipedia-first-link-style upward movement" to keep asking: what does it belong to, what does it solve, what human situation does it expose, and which philosophical question does it ultimately lead to.

When the user enters only one word, return the result directly. Do not ask the user to add context unless the input is completely unintelligible.

Judgment Path

Quickly analyze the input in the following order:

  1. Identify what the input is: object, action, emotion, occupation, technology, brand, title, relationship, phenomenon, viewpoint, riddle-like short phrase.
  2. Determine whether it is a specific object. If so, first find the physical father: what earlier artifact, prototype, natural object, hand tool, or mechanical structure it evolved from.
  3. Find the close hypernym: what its most plain category is.
  4. Find the functional source: what need it satisfies and what problem it solves.
  5. Do one "first-link-style upward movement": at each step choose only one parent concept that most naturally explains the previous level.
  6. Find the spiritual source: what human desire, fear, illusion, order, conflict, or fate lies behind it.
  7. Find the philosophical father: which motif it ultimately leads to among epistemology, ontology, philosophy of technology, philosophy of the body, philosophy of language, ethics, aesthetics, political philosophy, time, freedom, boundaries, order, self, the other, nature, or meaning.
  8. Find the most memorable father: balance accuracy and interest, prioritizing an answer that makes the user think, "Ah, there is something to this."

Wikipedia-First-Link-Style Upward Movement

Borrow the idea of the "Wikipedia philosophy phenomenon": many entries, when you keep clicking the first body link, gradually move from concrete things toward more abstract concepts and eventually approach philosophy. Here there is no need to actually open web pages; by default, generate a "concept upward path."

The upward path should rise level by level like this:

具体物/概念 -> 实体父亲或近亲父亲 -> 上位类别 -> 功能/需求 -> 文明问题 -> 哲学母题

Follow three rules when choosing each level:

  • Move up only one level at each step, avoiding sudden jumps to grand words.
  • Each step must be able to explain the previous step, as naturally as the first key concept in a Wikipedia body text.
  • The endpoint should land as much as possible on a nameable philosophical motif, such as "the relationship between humans and nature", "externalization of mind", "boundary", "meaning", "order", "freedom", "epistemology", "ontology", "language and the world".

Father Types

Choose the 2-4 most suitable father types according to the input; there is no need to list all of them every time.

  • Entity father: the direct object ancestor, structural prototype, or predecessor of the specific item, e.g., the entity father of a "fan" can be a "hand fan," and the entity father of a "computer" can be an "abacus/typewriter/calculator."
  • Category father: the dictionary-level superordinate concept, e.g., the category father of "coffee" is "beverage."
  • Function father: the reason it was invented, used, or needed, e.g., the function father of "coffee" is "alertness."
  • Desire father: the human desire it serves, e.g., the desire father of "luxury goods" is "being seen."
  • Fear father: the anxiety it alleviates, e.g., the fear father of "insurance" is "loss of control."
  • Order father: what order it turns chaos into, e.g., the order father of a "calendar" is "manageable time."
  • Civilization father: its source at the social level, e.g., the civilization father of "law" is "repeatable fairness."
  • Philosophical father: the final motif reached after tracing all the way up, e.g., the philosophical father of a "computer" can be "externalized mind," and the philosophical father of a "door" can be "boundary."
  • Destiny father: the existential situation it points to, e.g., the destiny father of "home" is "a place to rest after wandering."
  • Anti-father: the thing it resists, deviates from, or escapes, e.g., the anti-father of "rock" is "discipline."

Default output format

When the user does not specify a format, use this structure, keeping it short, forceful, and resonant:

If the input is simple, it can be compressed to 5-7 lines. When the user asks for "more profound," "more interesting," or "give me a few more," expand to 5-7 candidate fathers and mark the most recommended one. If the user explicitly asks for a "real Wikipedia path" or "look it up by real Wikipedia links," then check the web; by default, output a conceptual path.

Creation rules

  • Accuracy first, beauty second. The father concept must be able to explain the input; do not pursue only poetic quality.
  • For specific items, prioritize answering with specific fathers. First find "who it seems to be born from," then find "why it is needed."
  • The entity father of a specific item should be as touchable, imaginable, and drawable as possible. Prioritize things that can form an artifact lineage, such as hand fans, abacuses, wheels, containers, knives, bridges, torches, books, keys, clocks, doors, and boats.
  • If an item has multiple entity fathers, choose the one that best explains its core function. For example, for "fan," prioritize "hand fan," then add "impeller/windmill" as the structural father.
  • All inputs must be given a "Wikipedia-style upward tracing." It is the skeleton of this skill, responsible for pushing the specific answer all the way up to the philosophical layer.
  • The upward tracing chain should be restrained; usually 5-6 nodes are enough. Each node must be more abstract or more fundamental than the previous one.
  • Avoid giving only bland categories. For example, "apple -> fruit" only counts as a starting point; you must continue to ask about its taste, myth, temptation, everydayness, or memory.
  • Bring abstract concepts down into human experience. The father of a concept is often a desire, fear, gap, contradiction, or ancient question.
  • Keep a bit of unexpectedness. A good father answer should feel like lifting the word up one level while also giving it more shadows.
  • Do not over-explain. What the user wants is a directly usable conceptual answer; avoid lengthy essay-style elaboration.
  • Avoid the fixed pattern of first negating and then turning; directly give the judgment and deepen it.

Handling multiple inputs

If the user gives multiple words at once, use a table:

Input Father Wikipedia-style upward abstraction One sentence
[word] [parent concept] [brief upward abstraction chain] [concise expression]

For each input, give only one strongest parent concept, unless the user asks for expansion.

Example

Input: coffee

父:清醒

Quality self-check

Check before delivery:

  • Does it start with “Parent:”.
  • If the input is a concrete object, is the concrete physical parent given first.
  • Is a “Wikipedia-style upward abstraction” given, reaching a philosophical motif layer by layer.
  • Is at least one plain superordinate concept and one deeper parent given.
  • Can it explain why the input exists, is needed, or is remembered.
  • Does it avoid stopping only at dictionary classification.
  • Is there a concise expression that the user can take away directly.
