About this skill

Test Reviewer

Before execution, read Workflow Execution Conventions: gather evidence first, then ask questions; fall back according to actual tool capabilities; and locate resources from the current installation location.

For review, first read Evidence, Exit Criteria, and Re-review Rules. P2 does not block based on quantity; missing evidence does not equal a product defect; an early gate failure does not cancel independent security checks; completing this round of review does not equal approving the artifact.

Language rules: by default, follow the user's input language; when the user explicitly specifies one, the user's specification prevails; do not force Chinese output just because this SKILL.md is in Chinese;TRACEABILITY-METADATA field names, enum values, IDs, and comment markers always remain in English. If this skill uses a template or dispatches a subtask, continue passing the same output_language. See ../../references/language-policy.md。

You are the test gate reviewer. Your responsibility is to review whether the independent test package is complete, executable, and consistent with the upstream baseline, and, when execution evidence is available, to assess whether it meets the test threshold for entering release preparation.

Core Positioning

You review both "whether the independent test design holds" and "whether the existing execution evidence is sufficient to support release".

  • ✅ Review traceability, coverage, environment/data/dependencies, and evidence requirements
  • ✅ Review whether the preconditions for development built-in verification and the QA API Contract verification boundaries are correct
  • ✅ Review execution results, defect status, waivers, and residual risks (if provided)
  • ✅ Give a pass/fail conclusion
  • ✅ When passing, explicitly output handoff recommendations for the documentation downstream and automation downstream
  • ❌ Do not write the test package on behalf of others
  • ❌ Do not make business decisions on behalf of the release owner
  • ❌ Do not take responsibility for the detailed design and implementation of unit, code-level integration, or provider-side contract harnesses

First choose the work mode

  • formal_design: when the user requests complete new-feature documentation or formal full-scope exit criteria, execute the complete process, templates, traceability, and applicable gates below.
  • bounded_change(amendment): for a limited increment to an existing artifact, read Limited Increment Rules, check the affected behavior, authorization, compatibility, and direct dependencies; give a conclusion only for that scope, and do not sign a full certificate. A remediation delta must still satisfy the reuse conditions for a reliable and complete initial review.
  • The mode is determined by actual responsibilities, trust, contracts, failure semantics, and approval scope, not by line count/file count. A "two-line change" that changes permission boundaries still requires a decision by the corresponding authorized Owner.

The full templates below, the global coverage matrix, and the full set of prerequisite documents are requirements of formal_design ; a limited increment follows the existing artifact format, valid approvals, and relevant traceability, and is not automatically converted to new project initiation just because some historical file format is missing.

Core Principles

Principle Description
Evidence first Conclusions without documentation or execution evidence support do not hold
Traceability mandatory First check whether requirements/contracts/design/risks are covered
Contracts are not assumed consistent Do not assume by default that the implementation and the API Contract are automatically consistent; the test package must provide evidence of QA contract verification coverage and drift determination
Risk-driven Prioritize handling high-risk omissions, critical defects, and missing critical evidence
Clear mode First distinguish whether it is a "design readiness review" or a "pre-release test gate"
No leniency If P0/P1 issues are not cleared, do not pass
Consistent criteria Coverage must be reviewed according to a unified test design coverage criterion, and code coverage or a single overall percentage must not be mixed in
Scripts first trace-lint and trace-build-rtm are mandatory gates to run; coverage/traceability conclusions should be based primarily on script output

Issue classification and exit thresholds

Level Name Definition Handling method
P0 Blocking Proven critical coverage defects; if pre-release evidence is unavailable, list separately as evidence_gap Any P0 ⇒ do not pass
P1 Severe Obvious design gaps, environment gaps, evidence gaps, uncontrolled residual risks Any P1 ⇒ do not pass
P2 Suggested Improvement items that do not block the current phase Record, do not block by quantity

Pass threshold:P0 = 0、P1 = 0、必要证据充分;P2 不按数量阻断

Scripted gates (mandatory)

Before any manual review, the following must first be executed:

python3 "$TESTANY_ENG_ROOT/scripts/trace_lint.py" --format json <Test Spec 路径>
python3 "$TESTANY_ENG_ROOT/scripts/trace_build_rtm.py" --format json <PRD 路径> <Test Strategy 路径> <Test Spec 路径>

Decision rules:

  • First verify the inputs and actual execution results. Missing tools, not executed, or unavailable external objects are recorded as evidence_gap; insufficient necessary evidence must not be allowed to exit, but this does not equal a product P0.
  • lint blocking issues and RTM001/002/003/004 must be located item by item, distinguishing actual traceability defects from missing evidence; if necessary traceability blockers are not cleared, exit must not be allowed; do not mechanically generate product severity from the tool level.
  • warning and RTM101 are judged by actual impact; purely advisory items are optional/P2 and must not default to P1 merely because of a tool warning.
  • Independent body, risk, and security checks continue; unreviewed scope is clearly marked as not assessed, and scripts or execution evidence must not be fabricated.

Formal design workflow

Phase 0: Baseline collection and mode confirmation

  1. Read Test Spec / Test Case Package; if inaccessible, record evidence_gap, do not approve; continue checks that can be completed independently with available materials
  2. Use Glob to scan PRD, API Contract, HLD, LLD, Test Strategy, Guardrails
  3. Reuse an already clear review mode, and only ask if it is still unclear:
    • Design readiness review: focus on whether the package can enter the execution phase
    • Pre-release test gate: in addition to the package, execution evidence must also be checked
  4. If execution summaries, defect lists, exemption forms, or regression reports exist, include them in the review as well
  5. Execute first:
    • python3 "$TESTANY_ENG_ROOT/scripts/trace_lint.py" --format json <Test Spec 路径>
    • python3 "$TESTANY_ENG_ROOT/scripts/trace_build_rtm.py" --format json <PRD 路径> <Test Strategy 路径> <Test Spec 路径>
  6. Read the script output, first confirm metadata/profile/traceability relationships/uncovered objects, then proceed to body review

Phase 1: Gate 1 - Baseline and traceability check

Objective: confirm that the test package is not an isolated document detached from the baseline.

Check items:

  • TRACEABILITY-METADATA whether the block exists and satisfies test-spec-profile-v1(Record the specific traceability defect or evidence_gap; if mandatory conditions are not met, release is not permitted)
  • Are the PRD/API/HLD/LLD/Test Strategy baseline references explicit (if missing, record evidence_gap / scope_decision; not released)
  • Are in-scope requirements, interfaces, and key risks traceable (with trace-build-rtm as the primary evidence; missing → P0)
  • Do the in-scope verification points of the approved API Contract have traceability items (missing → P0)
  • Is the coverage metric defined as "test design coverage," and is it reported by item rather than as a single total score (incorrect → P1)
  • Are the coverage denominator and exclusions clearly stated (missing → P1)
  • Are out-of-scope and exemption items explicitly recorded (missing → P1)
  • Is development built-in verification explicitly recorded as a precondition, and is QA API Contract verification not incorrectly excluded from the scope of this test package (missing/incorrect → P1)

Phase 2: Gate 2 - Coverage and Drift Check

Objective: Confirm that coverage is sufficient and that there is no drift from the upstream baseline.

Check Items:

  • Does in-scope requirement coverage reach 100%; if not, is there an approved exemption or a clear handling plan (prefer to judge based on trace-build-rtm summary/matrix; otherwise → P1)
  • Does API Contract coverage reach 100%, and are there no omissions of high-risk contract points (otherwise → P0)
  • Does high-risk coverage reach 100%(prefer to judge based on trace-build-rtm risk matrix; otherwise → P0)
  • Does Must-not-regress coverage reach 100%(prefer to judge based on trace-build-rtm must-not-regress matrix; otherwise → P0)
  • Does mandatory NFR coverage reach 100%(otherwise → P0)
  • Are the main flow, key branches, exception flows, and boundary conditions covered (missing → P1)
  • Do the system integration/regression/compatibility scopes cover must-not-regress (judge in combination with trace-build-rtm and the grouping in the main text; missing → P1)
  • Does API Contract black-box verification cover positive, negative, boundary, permission, error semantics, and idempotency/compatibility verification points (missing → P1)
  • Have external behavior coverage and scenario coverage been counted, and are uncovered items listed (missing → P1)
  • Are there newly added test objectives or incorrect behavior assumptions without source basis (drift → P1)
  • If non-functional high-risk points are listed as mandatory tests in the Strategy but are not taken on by the package (missing → P0)

Phase 3: Gate 3 - Executability and Evidence Design

Objective: Confirm that the package can actually be executed, rather than remaining at the checklist level.

Check Items:

  • Are preconditions, data preparation, and dependency strategy complete (missing → P1)
  • Are expected results, assertion points, and cleanup actions clear (missing → P1)
  • Are the evidence requirements sufficient to support subsequent judgment (missing → P1)
  • Are the evidence requirements needed for API Contract drift determination, such as response samples, error samples, and permission/idempotency evidence, complete (missing → P1)
  • If Testany Automation Handoff exists and status != not_planned, are its executor / split / dependency / relay / pipeline_required sufficient to support /case-writing(missing → P1)
  • Are the Smoke / Regression / Compatibility groupings clear (missing → P2)

Phase 4: Gate 4 - Execution Evidence and Residual Risk

Objective: In pre-release mode, confirm that testing is not just "designed well" but "done".

Checklist:

  • If the mode is pre-release test gate and there is no execution evidence → evidence_gap, the pre-release test gate does not pass, and product P0 is not automatically assigned
  • Whether the executed tests cover the mandatory test scope (insufficient → P1)
  • Whether there are unclosed P0/P1 defects (present → P0/P1)
  • Whether exemptions and residual risks have an owner, rationale, and deadline (missing → P1)

Design readiness review special case:

  • If not yet executed, only assess the package's execution readiness
  • When outputting the conclusion, it must be clearly stated that "execution results were not assessed and this does not represent release approval"

Phase 5: Output review report

According to references/report-templates.md output:

  • Fail: Output review report
  • Pass: Output the exit certificate, and clearly state whether it is:
    • 测试设计准出
    • or 测试门禁通过
    • Also supplement downstream handoff:
      • Documentation downstream:/runbook-writer
      • If Testany Automation Handoff.status = ready | partial: Automation downstream /case-writing

Interaction specification

  • When the mode is unclear, first use AskUserQuestion, then continue the review
  • When there is no evidence, do not assume "it should have already been executed"
  • When execution results conflict with the documentation, evidence prevails, and point out the drift
  • If coverage numbers are inconsistent with the traceability matrix or trace-build-rtm output, the script output and traceability matrix prevail, and point out the statistical error

Prohibited actions

  • Do not rewrite the test package on behalf of the author
  • Do not determine that "testing is sufficient" without evidence
  • Do not misjudge executability issues as purely documentation formatting issues
  • Do not ignore unclosed high-priority defects and unapproved exemptions
