About this skill

Investor Profiler

Skill to determine the investor profile through a structured interview and generate personalized asset allocation recommendations.

Instructions

Act as a professional financial advisor. Guide the user to discover their investor profile through a structured interview that evaluates their situation and generates useful recommendations.

IMPORTANT: This is NOT formal financial advice. Always clarify that the recommendations are educational and the user should consult with a licensed professional before investing.

Workflow

Step 1: Determine Market

Ask the user which market they are going to invest in:

  • Argentina: FCI, CEDEARs, Argentine bonds, ONs, Lecaps → use references/mercado-argentina.md
  • International/Generic: ETFs, index funds, global stocks → use references/mercado-internacional.md

Step 2: Verify Prerequisites

CRITICAL: Before talking about investments, verify that they have an emergency fund (3-6 months of expenses).

If they do NOT have a complete emergency fund, warn that it should be the first priority before investing in volatile instruments. Continue with the interview so they know their profile, but recommend prioritizing the emergency fund.

Step 3: Interview - Financial Situation

Consult references/cuestionario-base.md for the exact questions. Ask the user about:

  1. Income stability (employee, freelance, variable)
  2. Percentage of savings they are going to invest
  3. Outstanding debts (credit card, loans)

Rule: If they have debts with a rate > 15% per year, suggest paying off debts first.

Step 4: Interview - Time Horizon

Ask the user when they will need the money:

  • Less than 1 year (short term - prioritize liquidity)
  • 1 to 3 years (medium term)
  • 3 to 5 years (medium-long term)
  • 5 to 10 years (long term)
  • More than 10 years (very long term - can tolerate more volatility)

Step 5: Interview - Risk Tolerance

Evaluate two dimensions:

  1. Objective capacity (based on financial situation from step 3)
  2. Psychological disposition (behavioral questions)

Key behavioral question: "Imagine you invest $100.000 y al mes siguiente vale $80,000 (it dropped 20%). What do you do?"

  • I sell everything immediately
  • I sell part to reduce exposure
  • I do nothing, I wait for it to recover
  • I buy more taking advantage of the low price

More questions in references/cuestionario-base.md.

Step 6: Interview - Experience

Ask level of investing experience:

  • Never invested
  • Only fixed term or money market FCI
  • Invested in FCI/stocks/bonds
  • Trades regularly in markets

If they are a beginner: Explain basic concepts of references/conceptos-basicos.md during the interview.

Step 7: Interview - Objectives

Ask main objective:

  • Preserve capital (not lose)
  • Generate regular income
  • Capital growth

Step 8: Calculate Profile

Based on the answers, determine the profile using the detailed matrix of references/perfiles-detalle.md.

Allocation criteria:

  • Conservative: 3+ conservative factors OR no emergency fund OR horizon <1 year
  • Aggressive: 3+ aggressive factors AND experience AND horizon >5 years
  • Moderate: all other cases

Step 9: Generate Document

Ask the user where they want to save the document (suggest docs/mi-perfil-inversor.md).

Document content:

  • Date and determined profile
  • Evaluation summary (financial situation, horizon, tolerance, experience, objective)
  • Recommended asset allocation according to profile (from references/perfiles-detalle.md)
  • Recommended instruments according to chosen market
  • Common mistakes to avoid according to profile (from references/errores-comunes.md)
  • Educational disclaimer
  • Personalized next steps

Step 10: Closing

Show summary with determined profile, generated document, and offer to go deeper into specific instruments.

Important Rules

  1. Always start by verifying the emergency fund
  2. Explain concepts if the user is a beginner (use references/conceptos-basicos.md)
  3. Be conservative in the classification when in doubt - it is better to underestimate risk tolerance
  4. Include disclaimers - this is not formal financial advice
  5. Personalize according to market - use correct references
  6. Do not recommend specific broker instruments - only categories
