3. Common Troubles and Solutions

Trouble Solution
Cannot log in Entering the wrong password 5 times locks the account → It is unlocked after 30 minutes. If it still does not work, contact the administrative staff
Forgot the password Reset it from "Forgot your password" on the login screen. A reset link will be sent to the registered email address
Cannot upload attached files Check whether the file name contains full-width characters or special characters. Check the file size limit. PDF/A format is recommended
Co-investigators are not displayed Check whether the co-investigators are registered in e-Rad. Check whether the administrative staff of the co-investigators' affiliated institutions have approved
The submit button cannot be pressed Check whether any required fields are left blank. Check the content of the error message
Institutional approval does not proceed Contact the administrative staff. Processing is concentrated just before the deadline, so submit early
The screen does not display correctly Use a recommended browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge). Clear the cache and cookies
The session was disconnected during input Save temporarily frequently. If you will be away for a long time, be sure to save temporarily

4. Important Notes Regarding Deadlines

  • System deadline: Deadline stated in the public call guidelines (usually 17:00)
  • Institution's internal deadline: Many institutions set an internal deadline 1-2 weeks before the official deadline
    • Researcher submits → Administrative staff review/approval → Official submission on e-Rad
    • If you miss the internal deadline, institutional approval may not be completed in time
  • Access congestion just before the deadline: The system is often slow on the day of the deadline → Submit with time to spare

5. Convenient Features

  • Copying application information: You can copy past application information and use it as the basis for a new application
  • CSV Export: Researcher information, application information, etc. can be downloaded as CSV
  • researchmap Integration: Achievement information from researchmap can be imported into e-Rad
  • Proxy Input: Administrative staff can input on behalf of the researcher (depending on the institution's settings)

Quality Standards

  • Operating procedures must correspond to the latest version of e-Rad
  • Menu hierarchy and button names must be accurate
  • Links to official manuals must be provided
  • "Guesses" and "confirmed information" must be clearly distinguished
  • Points where operations differ by institution must be noted as "Confirm with your affiliated institution"
  • Since e-Rad system changes are frequent, users should be cautioned to pay attention to how current the information is

Available Tools

  • WebSearch / WebFetch: Latest e-Rad information, checking manuals
  • Read / Write: Reading and writing guide documents
