About this skill

Market Insight Report Skill

Generate professional consulting-style market insight reports modeled on top-tier consulting firm standards.

Reference Sources

  • Type: Uploaded PDF material
  • Material Type:PDF
  • Reference File Type:PDF
  • Based on: Joint report by top-tier consulting firm + market research partner (32 pages)
  • Primary Language: Chinese (Simplified) mixed with English

Supported Output Formats

  • PDF(primary format, consistent with reference material)
  • DOCX(editable version)
  • PPTX(presentation version)

Default Output Format Selection

  • If the user explicitly specifies a format, use that format
  • Otherwise, print-grade reports default to PDF, and editable drafts default to DOCX

Reference Files

Please read the following files when generating reports:

  • references/analysis_framework.md -- Analysis Methodology: Market sizing, category analysis, channel analysis, consumer behavior, competitive analysis, data-to-insight methodology
  • references/chart_creation_guide.md -- Chart Rendering Specifications: Mapping of display items to charts, color schemes, specifications for 9 chart types, technical output requirements.Charts must be rendered as embedded images; text placeholders or tables must not be used as substitutes.
  • references/style_contract.md -- Visual style: typography, color scheme, layout, chart treatment
  • references/structure_contract.md -- Document structure: section hierarchy, content flow, chart numbering
  • references/sota_analysis.md -- How the contract for the reference material was derived

Report Generation Workflow

Step 1: Understand Requirements

Identify from the user query:

  • Topic/Industry: Which market or industry?
  • Time Range: Historical review period + current analysis period
  • Data Sources: What data should the analysis be based on?
  • Target Audience: Executives, marketers, investors?
  • Core Questions: What insights does the report need to answer?
  • Output Format: PDF, DOCX, or PPTX?

Step 2: Conduct Analysis

Read references/analysis_framework.md and apply the relevant analysis methods:

  • Market Sizing: Use top-down + bottom-up cross-validation (Module 1)
  • Category Analysis: Decompose growth into penetration rate × purchase frequency × average order value; perform volume-price breakdown (Module 2)
  • Channel Analysis: Track channel share evolution, build migration matrices, compare channel efficiency (Module 3)
  • Consumer Behavior: Map the purchase journey, perform user segmentation, analyze demand scenarios (Module 4)
  • Competitive Analysis: Attribute share changes, calculate concentration metrics, build competitive radar charts (Module 5)
  • Insight Synthesis: Follow the 5-step discovery process; apply the "So what?" test to each data point (Module 6)

Every analytical assertion in the report must be traceable to one of the above frameworks.

Step 3: Plan the Report Structure

Follow the standard consulting report architecture (see references/structure_contract.md):

Key rules from the reference document:

  • No numbered section divider pages (e.g., 01, 02, 03)
  • No superfluous pages (no methodology page, no appendix)
  • Content should be densely packed—avoid pages that are nearly blank
  • Do not use a breadcrumb-style numbering system (e.g., 1.1, 1.2)

For full details, please refer to references/structure_contract.md。

Step 4: Apply the Visual Style

For full details, please read references/style_contract.md. Key rules:

  • Color scheme: Deep red (#CC0000) as the accent color, black for body text, gray for secondary chart data
  • Typography: Alibaba PuHuiTi (Chinese), Graphik (English headings), TiemposText (English body text)
  • Page header: "Partner 1 | Partner 2" displayed in red + horizontal divider line + subtitle centered below
  • Footer: Page number centered at the bottom
  • Charts: Numbering format "Figure X:", red label, data source noted below each chart

Step 5: Content Writing Rules

Data Presentation

  • Always state the insight conclusion first, then support it with data
  • Include specific percentages, growth rates, and absolute values
  • Clearly specify the comparison periods (e.g., "Q1 2023 vs. Q1 2022")
  • Reference charts in the body text using the "(see Figure X)" format

Chart Guidelines

  • Charts must be rendered as actual embedded images(PNG, 150+ DPI); text placeholders or plain tables must not be used as substitutes. This is the top quality requirement. For full specifications, see references/chart_creation_guide.md。
  • Use red emphasis for the primary data series (#CC0000), and gray for secondary data
  • Label data directly on bars/columns
  • Add a data source note below each chart: "Source: ..."
  • Place charts near the first textual reference
  • Use consecutive numbering: Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3...
  • Chart titles should beassertive("Short videos account for 38.4% of user time"), not descriptive ("User time distribution")
  • At least 1 chart per 2 content pages; ideally 1-2 charts per page
  • 9 supported chart types: column + growth line (dual axis), pie/donut chart, stacked percentage column chart + CAGR table, waterfall/bridge chart, 2×2 small multiple grid, annotated line chart, horizontal bar chart (ranking), radar/spider chart, four-quadrant scatter plot
  • For rendering specifications, color schemes, and display item mappings, see references/chart_creation_guide.md

Writing Style

  • Fluent consulting narrative style—the report should read as coherent paragraphs, not bullet lists, data tables, or labeled sections (labels such as Insights/Drivers/Recommendations are analytical scaffolding and must not be visible in the output)
  • Each paragraph follows a natural flow of "assertion → evidence → interpretation → implication"
  • Professional, analytical tone; third-person perspective
  • Only data-supported assertions—every argument must pass the "So what?" test (see references/analysis_framework.md Module 6)
  • Bold key data within the prose(e.g., "user base reached1.116 billion"), never list data in isolation
  • Provide comparisons, never in isolation—every number needs a benchmark reference (year-over-year, vs. consensus expectations, vs. peers)
  • Weave clear causal explanations into the narrative rather than listing them as a separate section
  • Chapters open with a lead-in paragraph that sets the context and introduces the core question; they end with a transition paragraph that bridges to the next chapter
  • Recommendations should be written as evidence-backed conclusions paired with concrete action plans, not bullet-point wish lists
  • Growth decomposition (penetration × purchase frequency × average order value) should run through every category analysis
  • For paragraph templates, transition techniques, and examples, see references/structure_contract.md "Consulting Narrative Writing Rules" section

Content density

  • Arrange content densely; avoid pages that are nearly blank
  • Each page should have substantial text (800-1200 characters) or 1-2 full-size charts
  • Key paragraphs should be merged with adjacent content, not occupy an entire page alone

Step 6: Font handling (CJK compatibility)

  • Primary Chinese font: Alibaba PuHuiTi — Light, Regular, Medium, Bold
  • English heading font:Graphik(Light、Regular、Semibold)
  • English body font:TiemposText(Regular、RegularItalic)
  • If Alibaba PuHuiTi is unavailable: substitute Noto Sans SC or Source Han Sans SC
  • If Graphik is unavailable: substitute Montserrat or Inter
  • If TiemposText is unavailable: substitute Georgia or Noto Serif
  • Use a consistent font strategy across all text paths—do not mix Latin default fonts with Chinese patches

Output format notes

PDF output

  • Strictly preserve the visual style contract: photography-based cover, red headline text, partner logos
  • Keep headers on all content pages (from table of contents to report body); no headers on the cover, author page, or back cover
  • CJK fonts must be embedded
  • Page numbering starts at the table of contents (page 1)

DOCX output

  • Maintain the same chapter hierarchy and heading styles
  • Use a photographic image on the cover page, with the title text overlaid or placed below the image
  • Red H1 headings, black H2/H3 headings
  • Embed charts as images or native Office charts
  • Headers/footers consistent with the visual style contract

PPTX output

  • Convert the report into slide format: 1-2 slides per major chapter
  • Cover slide with the key visual image + title
  • Content slides: insight headline + bullet points + key charts
  • Maintain the red/gray/black color scheme
