About this skill

Creative Frontend Aesthetics Skill

You must break away from statistically common 'AI-generated-looking' designs (AI slop) and build an original frontend that surprises and delights users.

Key Focus Areas

1. Typography

  • Choose beautiful, unique, and intriguing fonts.
  • Avoid: Generic fonts such as Arial and Inter.
  • Recommended: Distinctive fonts that enhance frontend aesthetics.

2. Color & Theme

  • Ensure a cohesive aesthetic.
  • Use CSS variables to maintain consistency, and prioritize a composition of 'strong primary color + sharp accent' rather than a blurry color scheme.
  • Inspiration: Draw inspiration from IDE themes and cultural aesthetics (such as cyberpunk, retro, Nordic modern, etc.).

3. Motion (Movement)

  • Introduce effective animations and microinteractions.
  • For HTML, prioritize CSS-only solutions; for React, use framer-motion and similar libraries.
  • Strategy: Rather than sporadic movement, focus on staging key moments, such as staggered display on page load.

4. Background

  • Avoid solid colors and create atmosphere and depth.
  • Enhance texture by layering CSS gradients, geometric patterns, and context-appropriate background effects.

Characteristics of 'AI-generated design' to avoid

  • Fonts: Overuse of Inter, Roboto, Arial, and system fonts.
  • Color scheme: Purple gradient on a white background (far too typical).
  • Layout: Predictable component placement and a template-like design.
  • Character: A 'seen everywhere' design that ignores context.

Creative Interpretation

Actively switch between light/dark themes, take risks with fonts, and make unexpected choices. Do not stick to specific fonts (such as Space Grotesk), and always propose ideas that 'think outside the box'.
