FAQ
Installation-related questions
Q1: Prompt shows not found REDFOX_API_KEY What should I do?
Follow one-click installation Register at the RedFox Hub official website and configure environment variables; after configuring, restart the terminal. If the user does not know how to configure it, the Agent should assist in writing to ~/.zshrc / ~/.bashrc or the Windows user-level environment variables.
Q2: How do I verify that the API Key has taken effect?
Run echo $REDFOX_API_KEY(macOS/Linux) or echo %REDFOX_API_KEY%(Windows), and confirm that it starts with ak_ .
Q3: Which installation/invocation methods are supported?
SkillHub, ClawHub, WorkBuddy local skill directories, or directly run the Python script under scripts/ .
Usage-related questions
Q4: What time is the ranking data updated every day?
Daily at 19:00 UpdatedYesterday'sdata. If the current time is ≥ 19:00, query yesterday; if < 19:00, query the day before yesterday (when no date is specified).
Q5: What does the "Daily Viral Notes" metric mean?
After a note is published,Day 3 relative to Day 2interaction increment sorted from high to low, TOP50, not a cumulative overall ranking.
Q6: Why are only 20 items displayed?
The first time defaults to TOP20; when more than 20 items are returned, reply "View More" to load the rest, and the HTML is synchronously expanded to the full set.
Q7: What content will a single query output?
Fixed three parts: Daily Viral Notes → Daily Viral Notes Analysis (3 modules) → Feature Service Inquiry. The HTML file package is generated on demand. The order and format are subject to core_workflow.md .
Security and Licensing
Q8: How should the API Key be kept?
Read only through environment variables; do not commit it to public repositories or chat logs.
Q9: What are the boundaries for data use?
The ranking is based on successful API/script returns; jumping to the original text must comply with Xiaohongshu platform rules and copyright requirements, and do not make exaggerated promises about unverified data.
API Call Optimization
Q10: How many API calls does one query make?
In a normal scenario with data, only 1 time(fetcher obtains data and writes it to cache, gen_html reads from cache and skips the API). When there is no data for the default date, the script has a built-in fallback of one day, up to 2 times. The Agent is prohibited from constructing API requests on its own outside the script.
Q11: Can gen_html skip the API and use the cache directly?
Yes. Use the --input_json parameter to specify the JSON cache file output by the fetcher; gen_html will completely skip the API call, and the HTML can be generated normally even without an API Key.
Core Workflow
Complete execution specification (trigger prerequisites, output, table/HTML templates, original text of feature service inquiry, category matching, date rules, script parameters)must first read and follow references/core_workflow.md, andfully followthe trigger rules, output specifications, operation steps, and precautions therein. Script paths are relative to the skill directory:scripts/xhs_daily_fetcher.py、scripts/gen_xhs_html.py。
When executing tasks, it must be strictly followed, including but not limited to:
- Do not automatically pull rankings when the user has not explicitly queried or subscribed
- Must output in order: Explosion Ranking → Analysis → Feature Service Inquiry
- Do not collapse output; do not output files such as CSV/JSON
- The table and HTML data sources and order must be consistent
- HTML is generated on demand; file name format: Xiaohongshu Daily Viral Notes_{category}_unique timestamp.html
Notes
- Data timeliness: Updated daily at 19:00; for query date rules, see the core process
- Output completeness: All three parts are indispensable; functional service inquiries must be output verbatim immediately after the daily analysis
- Data authenticity: Based on what the script/API returns; hallucinating rankings or interaction counts to fill in gaps is prohibited
- Compliance: Comply with platform and copyright regulations; subscription push time is daily at 19:30
