For submission to drama, film, and web drama production companies and competitions, synopsisis the skill for writing it. It organizes everything in one flow from the one-line logline to the episode/act structure, and makes it effective as an actual submission document by reflecting Korean programming and submission specifications.
1. Overview
What the synopsis determines is **what story to tell (logline·theme)** and **when to place the twists and climax (structure)**. Since producers and judges have short reading time, there must be a hook on the first page.
2. What This Skill Does Not Do
- Does not write scene-by-scene scripts — Scene numbers, stage directions, and dialogue are
story-screenplay. - Does not create storyboards or video — Frame boards are
story-conti, and previz isstory-previz. - Does not fabricate competition names or deadlines — Specific competition names, deadlines, and prize amounts change by period. If unconfirmed,

3. Pre-checks
references/logline-patterns.md— Logline pattern types, genre-specific branching, bad examples/good examples.references/kr-broadcast-format.md— Korean programming practices (16-episode and 12-episode series), episode-by-episode event tables, and act structure.references/kr-submission.md— Submission document composition for broadcaster screenplay competitions, KOFIC, and KOCCA (required at submission).
4. Workflow
Step 1 — Logline
Compress the protagonist, conflict, goal, and crisis into a single sentence. Pattern types (e.g., "the story of an ordinary X who meets Y and comes to Z") and genre-specific branching are in logline-patterns.md. Refine by contrasting bad examples (vague·list-like) with good examples.
Step 2 — Planning Intent
Organize why this story now and what the differentiator is. Include timeliness, target audience, and differentiators compared to similar works.
Step 3 — Character Introductions
Organize the personality, relationships, and conflict motivations of the protagonist, counterpart, and rival. Reveal characters through relationships (not lists of appearances).
Step 4 — Episode/Act Structure
- Drama: Compose an episode-by-episode event table according to Korean programming practices (16-episode and 12-episode series, etc. —
kr-broadcast-format.md). Since the three-act structure is a Western standard, demote it to a reference structureonly, and prioritize episode-by-episode event placement. - Film: Reference the act structure, but also consider the running time and sequence placement of Korean commercial films.
Step 5 — Submission Specification Alignment
If it is a competition/support program submission, check the document composition, length, and format of kr-submission.mdand match the format. Verify deadlines and prize amounts in the host's announcement, and flag them if unconfirmed.

6. Precautions
- First page hook — The opening is captured through the logline and planning intent.
- The three-act structure is for reference; Korean programming is the main line. — The 16-episode episode event table is the substance of a drama submission.
- Contest fact check — Reconfirm the name, deadline, and format in the announcement.
