Patent Search

Overview

This is a specialized skill that uses the KIPRIS Plus (Korea Intellectual Property Protection Agency) API to search patents, utility models, designs, and trademarks and systematically organize bibliographic information. It supports prior art searches, filing status assessment, and technology trend analysis.

Workflow

Step 1: Check API Key (Required)

A KIPRIS Plus API key is required:

   1. https://plus.kipris.or.kr/ 접속 → 회원가입
   2. 마이페이지 → 인증키 발급
   3. 또는 https://www.data.go.kr/data/15065437/openapi.do 에서 활용신청 (무료)

   API 키를 입력해 주세요:"

  → 사용자가 키 입력
  → ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_DATA}/moai-credentials.env에 KIPRIS_API_KEY 저장
  → Step 2로 진행

Step 2: Establish Search Strategy

• Extract core keywords (search in Korean + English simultaneously)
• IPC classification code mapping (International Patent Classification)
• Determine search scope (domestic/overseas, year, status: filed/registered/published)
• Applicant/Inventor filter

Step 3: KIPRIS API Search

Basic API Information

• Base URL: https://plus.kipris.or.kr/openapi/rest/
• Authentication: ServiceKey parameter (KIPRIS_API_KEY)
• Response format: XML
• ⚠️ Verify the exact host and operation names against the KIPRIS Plus developer guide (the call examples below are format examples, and operation names follow the issuer's specification).

Step 4: Organize Search Results

• Patent list (application number, title, applicant, inventor, filing date, registration date, status)
• Key claim summary (focused on independent claims)
• Technology distribution by IPC/CPC classification
• Competitive status by applicant (top 10)
• Filing trends by year

Precautions

• If you do not have a KIPRIS Plus API key, the search cannot be performed. API keys can be issued free of charge from KIPRIS or data.go.kr.
• The KIPRIS API allows 1,000 free calls per month. If exceeded, a paid plan applies.
• For some patents, the full text may not be available. In this case, only bibliographic information and a summary of the claims are provided.
