Use Everything (voidtools) to perform millisecond-level full-disk file searches on Windows. Hundreds of times faster than Windows Search, with real-time updates based on the NTFS index.
Use cases
- The user says "help me find that XX file" or "is there a file called XX on my computer"
- Need to quickly filter by file type, size, or modification date
- Need to search for specific content across the entire disk
- Need to find duplicate or scattered files before organizing the desktop

- When there are more than 20 results, display only the first 20 + the total count
- Large file search results include a size ranking
- Provide a shortcut action to "open the containing folder in Explorer"
Safety rules
- Read-only operations: only search and display, do not delete or move
- Results for system directories (
C:\Windows) are collapsed by default unless the user explicitly requests them
