Cross-App Workflows

Chain multiple local apps and Skills into complex multi-step workflows to complete end-to-end automation tasks.

Use Cases

  • The user says "Extract the attachments from the email, analyze the Excel, generate a report, then reply to the email"
  • The user says "Extract data from these 5 PDFs, consolidate it into Excel, and make a chart"
  • The user says "Organize the meeting minutes into action items, add them to the calendar, and notify the attendees"
  • The user says "Analyze the data in this folder, generate a PPT, and save it to the desktop"

Execution Method

This is anorchestration-type Skill, which does not perform specific operations itself, but instead guides the Agent on how to chain multiple Skills together.

Workflow Orchestration Principles

  1. Understand the complete goal: Analyze the user's request and identify all the steps needed
  2. Break down the task chain: Decompose the goal into ordered subtasks
  3. Choose the appropriate Skill: Match each subtask with the best Skill
  4. Pass intermediate results: Use the output of the previous step as the input of the next step
  5. Error recovery: Try alternative solutions when a step fails

Intermediate Result Management

  • Save the files generated by each step to the ~/Desktop/xiaodazi_workflow/ temporary directory
  • After the workflow is complete, remind the user to check whether the intermediate files need to be kept
  • Write large intermediate results to files instead of putting them all into the context

Security Rules

  • Show the plan before each step: Let the user understand the upcoming operations
  • Sensitive operations require confirmation: Sending emails, deleting files, etc. require HITL confirmation
  • Do not silently skip errors: Notify the user when a step fails and provide an alternative solution

Output Specifications

  • Show the complete workflow plan (step list) before starting
  • Report progress after each step is completed
  • After everything is complete, provide a summary: which operations were performed and which files were generated
