About this skill

Insight - User Needs Insight and Product Opportunity Analysis

Overview

Based on a three-part prompt framework, it helps you complete user insight analysis in 10 minutes that traditional methods take weeks to accomplish. This is not vague, empty talk, but deep insight that lets you see concrete pictures, and can be used directly for product design and marketing copy.

Applicable Scenarios

  • User analysis before developing a new product/service
  • Market opportunity assessment before entering a category
  • Uncovering user motivations in marketing planning
  • Finding differentiated product positioning
  • Quickly validating product direction hypotheses
  • Minimalist entrepreneurship implementation for one-person companies/small teams/freelancers (based on the "Small and Beautiful" methodology)

Core Methodology

This skill adoptsa four-stage insight-to-entrepreneurship implementation framework:

Stage Core Objective Output
Stage One: User Persona Identification Avoid the "capture everyone" trap and find the most valuable target users 4 types of potential user personas + core user judgment (based on repurchase frequency, cyclical resistance, and addictiveness)
Stage Two: Emotional Motivation Analysis Break down users' true motivations from the three dimensions of pain points/itch points/delight points Emotional insights that can be used directly in marketing copy
Stage Three: Product Opportunity Conversion Convert emotional insights into actionable needs sorted by priority P0/P1/P2 product opportunity list
Stage Four: Small and Beautiful Entrepreneurship Implementation Based on the "Small and Beautiful" methodology, convert product opportunities into an executable 6-step entrepreneurship roadmap Community positioning + minimalist MVP + 100-customer cold start + native marketing + profit moat + cultural values

Stage Four is an optional extension. The first three stages focus on "seeing clearly," while the fourth stage focuses on "how to do it." For one-person companies, small teams, and freelancers, it is strongly recommended to complete Stage Four to obtain a complete entrepreneurship plan.

Workflow

Step 1: Collect Product Information

First, ask the user for the following core information:

Step 2: Generate User Personas

Use the following framework to generate user personas:

Example output format:

Step 3: In-Depth Emotional Motivation Analysis

After the user selects the user group to analyze, conduct pain point/itch point/delight point analysis:

Example output format:

Step 4: Generate Product Opportunity List

Convert emotional insights into actionable product requirements:

2. 按优先级排序:P0(核心)/ P1(重要)/ P2(锦上添花)

Example output format:

Step 5: Small and Beautiful Entrepreneurship Implementation (Optional but Strongly Recommended)

Based on "Small and Beautiful: The Business Rules for Continuous Profitability" (by Sahil Lavingia), convert the core users, emotional insights, and P0 product opportunities output in the first three stages into an executable 6-step entrepreneurship roadmap.Especially suitable for one-person companies, micro teams, freelancers, and slash youth。

Core Philosophy

Four principles of minimalist entrepreneurs:

  1. Profitability takes priority over scale expansion — Generate cash through revenue, do not rely on external financing
  2. Be a creator first, then an entrepreneur — Start by delivering value, and gradually evolve into a business
  3. Rooted in the community, serving a precise audience — Do not chase the mass market; focus on niche communities
  4. Control is greater than size — Make decisions independently and operate at your own pace

Important note

On the correct way to use AI output

What AI gives is not the "final answer," but a quickly verifiable direction.

  1. This is a starting point, not an endpoint: After receiving the analysis results, you need to quickly test and iterate in combination with real business scenarios
  2. Lean startup mindset: Before investing large costs, first use AI to get a feel and build a sense of direction
  3. Validation takes priority over perfection: Use the minimum viable cost to test which direction has the most market potential

The value of this skill

  • Traditional method: tens of thousands of yuan for a consulting firm + at least 1 month, or 15 in-depth interviews + half a month
  • AI method: 10-minute conversation + structured insights
  • Core value: not "having an answer," but "having a sense of direction," knowing what to validate

Skill usage tips

1. Industry adaptation suggestions

Different industries can adjust the focus of analysis:

Industry Suggested focus
Food and beverage Physiological experience details, ceremonial scenarios
SaaS/B2B Decision chain roles, ROI quantification, risk aversion
E-commerce/consumer goods Social signals, identity projection, pain point copywriting
Content/education Knowledge anxiety, achievement path, social currency

2. In-depth analysis techniques

If the user needs a deeper analysis, you can:

  • Select multiple user groups and analyze them separately
  • Compare the differences between different user groups and look for intersection opportunities
  • Conduct a "5 Whys" deep dive on a single emotional point

3. Output format selection

Provide different formats according to user needs:

  • Executive summary version: Core insights + 3 P0-level opportunities
  • Full report version: Full-process analysis + detailed opportunity list
  • Presentation version: A structured outline suitable for team sharing
  • Small and beautiful startup plan version: Phase 1-3 insights + Phase 4 6-step startup implementation roadmap (first choice for one-person companies/small teams)

4. Suggestions for using Phase 4 (small and beautiful startup implementation)

When to activate Phase 4:

  • ✅ One-person companies, freelancers, and slash youth preparing to launch a new business
  • ✅ Micro teams (≤5 people) planning new products/services
  • ✅ Content creators and knowledge workers monetizing their skills
  • ✅ Transition planning from side hustle to main business

Whennotrecommended to activate Phase 4:

  • ❌ Funded companies pursuing rapid scaling (conflicts with the philosophy of "Small and Beautiful")
  • ❌ Asset-heavy traditional industries (such as manufacturing and chain restaurants)
  • ❌ Only doing one-time market research, with no startup implementation needs

The output of Phase 4 is a90-day executable manual, where every action is "ready to do on sight," and it works best when used with monthly review iterations.
