Overview
This skill polishes and optimizes academic texts such as Chinese papers, English papers, and professional reports in accordance with scientific and professional academic norms. It improves language expression quality, logical coherence, and academic compliance while keeping the author's original viewpoints and research content unchanged.
Skill routing: This skill handles general language polishing. When the user explicitly specifies a Nature-series journal, or requires section-level logical restructuring, evidence boundary calibration, de-templated AI writing style, or submission-grade fidelity verification, use qinyan-nature-polishing。
Academic integrity statement:
- Polishing is limited to optimization at the level of language expression and does not change the core viewpoints, data, or conclusions of the original text
- It will not add research content or data that does not exist in the original text
- It will not replace the author's original work
- The polished result should be reviewed and confirmed by the author personally
Polishing principles
Core principles
- Fidelity to the original meaning: Accurately preserve the author's original viewpoints, logic, and argumentation
- Academic norms: Comply with general norms and field conventions of academic writing
- Clear and concise: Eliminate redundant expression and improve conciseness of writing
- Logical coherence: Ensure smooth logical connection between paragraphs and between sentences
- Accurate terminology: Use accurate professional terminology and avoid colloquial expression
What not to do
- Do not change research conclusions or exaggerate research results
- Do not add unverified arguments
- Do not delete key information or data
- Do not change the overall structure of the article (unless the user explicitly requests it)
Polishing dimensions
1. Language expression optimization
- Eliminate grammatical errors and spelling errors
- Correct improper use of punctuation
- Improve sentence structure and avoid sentences that are too long or too short
- Eliminate repetitive expressions and redundant words
- Unify the use of person and tense
2. Standardization of academic wording
- Replace colloquial expressions with academic wording
- Use standard field terminology and maintain terminological consistency
- Appropriately use academic connectives and transitional phrases
- Avoid absolute statements (e.g., change "proved" to "indicated"/"revealed")
- Use an objective, neutral academic tone
3. Logic and structure
- Check the completeness and coherence of argumentative logic
- Optimize transitions between paragraphs
- Ensure accurate expression of causal relationships
- Check consistency between preceding and following text
4. Special norms for Chinese papers
- Standards for the use of Chinese punctuation (full-width punctuation)
- Standards for the use of numbers and units
- Standards for spacing and formatting in mixed Chinese-English typesetting
- Refer to "GB/T 7713.2-2022 Rules for the Preparation of Academic Papers"
5. Special norms for English papers
- Academic English tense usage (past tense for methods, present tense for conclusions, etc.)
- Avoid informal contractions (don't → do not)
- Reasonable use of active and passive voice
- Accurate use of articles and prepositions
- Refer to the target journal's writing style guide
Workflow
Step 1: Receive the text
Receive the text to be polished provided by the user, and confirm:
- Text language (Chinese/English)
- Text type (academic paper/professional report/thesis/review, etc.)
- Discipline or field
- Special requirements (such as the target journal's style requirements)
Step 2: Comprehensive analysis
Analyze the main problems in the text:
- Language issues (grammar, word choice, sentence structure)
- Logic issues (unclear argumentation, improper cohesion)
- Format issues (punctuation, inconsistent terminology)
- Academic standards issues (inappropriate wording, imprecise expression)
Step 3: Polished output
Provide the complete polished text, along with an explanation of the revisions.
Output format
Method 1: Full-text polishing (default)

Method 2: Paragraph-by-paragraph polishing (when requested by the user)
Provide the original text and the polished version for each paragraph separately for comparison.
Method 3: Annotation mode (when requested by the user)
Mark revision suggestions on the original text, and let the user decide whether to adopt them.
Special scenario handling
Abstract polishing
- Strictly control the word count (300-500 Chinese characters, 150-300 English words, or according to journal requirements)
- Ensure inclusion of the five elements: research background, purpose, methods, results, and conclusion
- Concise language; avoid starting with "本文" (in English, avoid "In this paper")
Introduction polishing
- Ensure the logical progression of research background → current research status → research gap → this paper's work
- Accurate and objective description of literature citations
Conclusion polishing
- Avoid introducing new content
- Keep consistent with the statements in the abstract but do not repeat them completely
- Appropriately look ahead to future research directions
Example
Before polishing (Chinese)
我们通过实验证明了这个方法是最好的。实验结果很好地说明了我们提出的算法能够非常有效地提高性能。
After polishing (Chinese)
实验结果表明,所提方法在多项评估指标上均取得了显著提升,验证了该算法的有效性。
Explanation of revisions
- "我们" → omit the subject and use a more objective academic expression
- "证明了...是最好的" → "表明...取得了显著提升", avoiding absolute statements
- "很好地" → delete, eliminating colloquial modifiers
- Merge two redundant sentences into one concise expression
