R — Original Text (Reading)
There are two seals in your brain that have not been released! … The first seal: negative words. Our brains can only accept positive words, not negative words. Once you use positive words, the seal is released, and your brain immediately starts turning. … The second seal: negative emotions. Once negative emotions arrive, the system crashes and the brain stops thinking. The way to eliminate negative emotions is not to wait for emotions to come and then control them, but to prevent negative emotions from being possible at all! … Emotions are not the problem itself; all methods of control only treat the symptoms, not the root cause. — Chapter 13, "Is Your Brain Sealed?"
I — Methodological Skeleton (Interpretation)
- The brain has two seals that make people stop thinking:negative words(lockdown at the language level) andnegative emotions(collapse at the emotional level)
- Seal one (negative words): The brain cannot process the concept of "not"—"don't be nervous" makes you more nervous instead. Replace "I can't" with "How can I make it work," and the brain shifts from stagnation to operation.
- Seal two (negative emotions): There are two true sources of negative emotions—belief mismatch(conflict between reality and expectations) andinsufficient ability(existing abilities cannot handle the current problem)
- Three ineffective ways of handling emotions: suppression (the outburst becomes more severe), venting (damages relationships and one's own image), and diversion (treats the symptom but not the root cause, rebounding at night).
- Three-step emergency handling method: awareness (become aware of the emotion) → understanding (find the motive and belief conflict) → transformation (replace with positive words + NLP presuppositions).
- Long-term plan: (1) Improve problem-solving ability (eliminate the source of "insufficient ability"). (2) Polish the belief system—learn the twelve NLP presuppositions and reduce emotional triggers caused by "it should be this way."
- Key cognitive shift: It is not that your ability to control emotions has become stronger, but that fewer things can trigger your negative emotions.
A1 — Application in the Book (Past Application)
- The counterproductive effect of "don't be nervous": You tell yourself not to be nervous, but end up more nervous—because the brain cannot process "not" and can only focus on "nervous." Change it to "I want to stay calm," and the brain will automatically seek ways to be calm.
- Wedding anniversary belief conflict: You expect "my husband should prepare a surprise today" (belief), but your husband works overtime and forgets (reality). Belief mismatch → anger. If you use the NLP presupposition "everyone made the best choice available at the time," you can shift from anger to understanding.
- Negative word replacement exercise: Change "I have no way" → "I haven't found a way yet"; "this won't work" → "I need to try another way." The left side is a stagnant predicament; the right side is a dynamic solution.
A2 — Trigger Scenarios (Future Trigger)
When to use:
- When facing challenges, the brain goes blank and falls into the loop of "I can't do it"
- Overwhelmed by emotions such as anger, anxiety, and fear, unable to think rationally
- Repeatedly losing emotional control in the same scenario (such as being provoked by a certain type of person)
- Being hijacked by emotions when making decisions, and regretting it afterward
- Helping others (subordinates, children) get out of negative emotions
Verbal signals:
- "I can't do it / I'm not capable / I have no way"
- "I'm furious / I'm going crazy"
- "My mind has gone completely blank"
- "The more I think about it, the more annoyed I get"
- "I can't control myself"
- "This is impossible / This shouldn't be this way"
Distinguish from adjacent skills:
- vs. dialysis-prism: The dialysis prism is used tosolve specific problems(analyze the three elements A, B, and C), while unsealing the brain is used torestore the brain's ability to function(the seal must be removed first before the prism can be used). The order is: first unseal, then analyze the problem
- vs. structured-thinking: Structured thinking is a tool of the rational brain, but if the seal is not removed, the rational brain cannot start at all
E — Executable Steps (Execution)
Step 1: Emergency handling—awareness → understanding → transformation
- Awareness: Say the name of the current emotion to yourself in your mind ("I am getting angry/anxious/afraid right now"). This step alone can partially activate the rational brain
- Understanding: Ask yourself three questions—(1) What is my motive? What do I want to get through this emotion? (2) Which of my beliefs has the other person/the world violated? (3) Is this belief itself necessarily correct?
- Transformation: Check the negative words in the emotional expression and replace them with positive words (such as "He shouldn't be like this" → "I hope he will..."); find one of the twelve NLP presuppositions that can explain the current situation and give you strength, and use it to replace the original belief
- Completion standard: Emotional intensity drops from above 8 points to below 5 points, and rational thinking can resume
Step 2: Long-term conditioning—polish the belief system
- Systematically study the twelve NLP presuppositions and use them as daily creeds for dealing with people and the world (such as "No two people are the same," "Repeating old methods will only produce old results," and "Behind every behavior is a positive intention")
- After each emotional trigger, record: triggering event → challenged belief → replacement positive belief. Form a "belief upgrade log"
- Completion standard: Record the belief upgrade log for 30 consecutive days, replacing at least 5 old "it should be this way" beliefs
Step 3: Long-term conditioning—improve abilities
- Identify the types of scenarios currently most likely to trigger your negative emotions (such as public speaking, interpersonal conflict, time pressure)
- Specifically improve the core abilities required for that scenario (such as speaking training, communication skills, time management)
- After the abilities improve, scenarios that previously triggered emotions no longer pose a threat
- Completion standard: After three months, review the initial trigger scenario list; at least 50% no longer trigger strong negative emotions
B — Boundary
Scenarios not to use:
- Serious mental health problems (depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder) require professional psychological counseling or medical intervention, and cannot be solved by "changing words"
- Normal positive emotions (excitement, joy, being moved) — these do not need to be 'released'; they are resources, not seals
- Emergency scenarios that require rapid instinctive reactions (such as dangerous escapes) — emotional reactions are a protective mechanism at such times
Failure modes:
- Treating 'positive thinking' as 'self-deception': it is not about ignoring reality, but about describing reality in a more constructive way
- Only doing emergency handling without long-term conditioning: the three-step method is just a band-aid; without refining the belief system and improving capabilities, the same problems will be triggered repeatedly
- Mistaking 'not getting angry' as the goal: the goal is to keep the brain running and make good decisions, not to become an emotionless robot
- Using NLP presuppositions to 'rationalize' everything: presuppositions are thinking tools, not dogma; mechanically applying them is itself a new kind of seal
Author's blind spots:
- Insufficient discussion of the point that 'negative emotions are sometimes correct signals' — anger may indicate that boundaries have been violated, and fear may indicate that there is real danger. Not all negative emotions need to be 'released'
- The validity of the twelve NLP presuppositions lacks empirical support; they are more of a belief system than a scientific conclusion
- The 'emergency three-step method' is very difficult to execute in an actual state of anger, because at that time the rational brain has indeed shut down — specific techniques for 'how to activate self-awareness in the moment of emotion' need to be added (such as bodily anchors: deep breathing, washing the face with cold water, etc.)

This skill is related to the following skills:
- nlp-levels(Synergy): After the brain seal is released, the NLP logical levels help you redefine the problem from a higher identity level and BVR level; the two work together to achieve 'first release the seal and restore thinking, then reposition with a higher-level framework'.
