Important reference files
During chart casting and analysis, you need to consult the following reference files to obtain detailed rules and table data:
references/wuxing-tables.md— all reference tables for the Five Elements, Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches, Ten Gods, Hidden Stems, etc.references/shichen-table.md— complete correspondence table for birth hours, and the method of deriving the hour from the day (Five Rats Escaping Yuan)references/dayun-rules.md— rules for forward/reverse arrangement of Major Luck cycles, calculation of the starting age of luck, and rules for Fleeting Year analysisreferences/classical-texts.md— summaries of the core destiny-judging rules from nine classic texts
When performing chart casting calculations, please first read the corresponding reference files to ensure accurate calculation.
Phase One: Information Collection
Collect user information step by step according to the following steps. For steps with clear options, use the AskUserQuestion tool;for steps with free-text input(such as name, date, address), directly ask the user in a text reply, and the user will reply in the conversation. Do not ask all questions at once; proceed one step at a time. Note: AskUserQuestion requires each question to have at least 2 options, so do not use it for pure text input scenarios.
Step 1: Collect name
Directly ask the user for their current name (do not use AskUserQuestion; reply directly in text).
"Please tell me your name."
Step 2: Collect former name
"Do you have a former name?"
Options:
- No former name — skip, proceed to Step 3
- Has a former name — collect the former name content, then ask for the approximate time of the name change (year is sufficient)
- If the user remembers the time of the name change, record it
- If the user has forgotten, mark it as "unknown"
- Not very sure — skip, proceed to Step 3
Step 3: Collect solar birthday
Directly ask for the solar birthday in text (do not use AskUserQuestion; reply directly in text):
"Please tell me your solar (Gregorian) birthday, in a format such as: May 15, 1990. If you are not sure of your solar birthday, you may say you do not know."
- The user provides a solar birthday → record it, proceed to Step 4
- The user does not know the solar birthday → mark it as "unknown", proceed to Step 4
Step 4: Collect lunar birthday
Directly ask for the lunar birthday in text (do not use AskUserQuestion; reply directly in text):
"Please tell me your lunar (Chinese calendar) birthday, in a format such as: the twenty-first day of the fourth month, 1990. If there is a leap month, please indicate it (e.g., leap fourth month). If you are not sure of your lunar birthday, you may say you do not know."
- User provided their lunar calendar birthday → record it, proceed to Step 5
- User does not know their lunar calendar birthday → mark as "unknown", proceed to Step 5
- If both the solar and lunar calendar dates are marked as "unknown" → chart cannot be cast; suggest the user go home to check their birth certificate or ask family members
Step 5: Collect birth hour
"What is your birth hour? (If you only know the approximate time, that's fine too, e.g. 'morning', 'afternoon')"
Tip: You may refer to the references/shichen-table.md hour correspondence table to help the user determine it.
Options:
- Provide a specific time — convert to the hour earthly branch
- Provide the hour — record directly
- Not sure — mark the hour pillar as "unknown", and subsequently perform only six-character analysis
Step 6: Collect gender
"What is your gender?"
Options: Male / Female
Gender affects the direction of the Major Fortune (Dayun) sequence (yang year male / yin year female arranged forward, yin year male / yang year female arranged in reverse), and must be collected.
Step 7: Collect birthplace
Ask directly for the birthplace (do not use AskUserQuestion; reply directly in text).
"Please tell me your birth province and city (for example: Dandong City, Liaoning Province)."
The birthplace is used as a reference for true solar time correction. If the birth time provided by the user deviates from the corresponding hour, remind the user that there may be an influence of true solar time.
Step 8: Confirm living status
"Is the person to be analyzed currently alive?"
- Alive — automatically obtain the current year, month, and day (use the system date or execute the
datecommand), as the "current time" for analysis - Deceased — collect the year of death; the analysis will only be calculated up to that year
Step 9: Information confirmation summary
Summarize and display all collected information to the user:
📋 信息确认:
- 姓名:XXX(曾用名:XXX,改名时间:XXXX年/未知/无)
"Is the above information correct? If you need to modify anything, please let me know. Once confirmed, I will begin the chart casting and analysis."
After the user confirms, proceed to the second stage.
Second stage: Chart casting calculation
After confirming the information, read references/wuxing-tables.md and references/shichen-table.md, and perform the following calculations:
1. Year pillar
- Use the Beginning of Spring (Lichun) as the dividing line (not the first day of the first lunar month); births before Lichun belong to the previous year
- Lichun usually falls on February 3-5 of the solar calendar each year
- The year's heavenly stem and earthly branch are calculated according to the 60-year cycle
2. Month pillar
- Use solar terms as the dividing line (not lunar months); one solar term per month:
- Lichun→Yin month, Jingzhe→Mao month, Qingming→Chen month, Lixia→Si month
- Mangzhong→Wu month, Xiaoshu→Wei month, Liqiu→Shen month, Bailu→You month
- Hanlu→Xu month, Lidong→Hai month, Daxue→Zi month, Xiaohan→Chou month
- Mnemonic for determining the month from the year: "For years of Jia and Ji, Bing is the first; for years of Yi and Geng, Wu is the head; for years of Bing and Xin, seek Geng above; for years of Ding and Ren, Renyin flows along; for years of Wu and Gui, where to find it? Above Jiayin is the place to seek."
3. Day pillar
- Must be determined by consulting the perpetual calendar table, or calculated using a known day-pillar calculation method
- Note that the night Zi hour (after 23:00) belongs to the next day
4. Hour pillar
- Determine the hour's earthly branch based on the birth time (refer to
references/shichen-table.md) - Determine the heavenly stem according to the method of determining the hour from the day (Five Rats Escaping Yuan)
5. Arrange the four pillars
Present in table form:
| Year Pillar | Month Pillar | Day Pillar | Hour Pillar | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Heavenly Stem | X | X | X | X |
| Earthly Branch | X | X | X | X |
| Ten Gods | — | |||
| Hidden Stems |
- The Ten Gods are calculated based on the day stem (Day Master)
- Expand the hidden stems in each branch into the primary qi, middle qi, and residual qi
6. Major Luck Cycle Arrangement
Read references/dayun-rules.md, calculate:
- Determine the direction of the Major Luck Cycle: yang year male / yin year female → forward sequence; yin year male / yang year female → reverse sequence
- Using the Month Pillar as the baseline, arrange the Major Luck Cycle stems and branches in sequence according to the direction
- Calculate the starting age of the Major Luck Cycle (days from birth date to the nearest solar term ÷ 3)
- Arrange each step of the Major Luck Cycle starting from the starting age (each step governs ten years)
Display format:
| Major Luck Cycle Order | Age Range | Stems and Branches |
|---|---|---|
| Before the starting age | Age X-X | Month Pillar (Minor Luck Cycle) |
| First step | Age X-X | XX |
| Second step | Age X-X | XX |
| ... | ... | ... |
Phase Three: Comprehensive Analysis
Read references/classical-texts.md to obtain classical fate analysis rules, and analyze according to the following framework:
1. Day Master Analysis
- Determine the strength or weakness of the day stem (obtaining the season, obtaining support, obtaining momentum)
- Determine the strength of the Day Master: strong self / weak self / following strength / following weakness
- Analyze the influence of the Day Master's Five Elements characteristics on the person's personality
2. Ten Gods Analysis
- List the Ten Gods in each pillar and their meanings
- Focus on analyzing the Ten Gods that have the greatest influence on the Day Master
- The relationship between the Ten Gods and the six relations (refer to Yuanhai Ziping)
3. Five Elements Balance
- Count the distribution of the Five Elements' strength in the fate chart
- Determine whether the Five Elements are excessively strong or lacking
- Determine the favorable deity and unfavorable deity (refer to Qiongtong Baodian for seasonal adjustment favorable deities)
4. Pattern Determination
- Determine the pattern based on the month order and exposed stems (Direct Officer pattern, Indirect Wealth pattern, etc., refer to Ziping Zhenquan)
- Determine the level and success or failure of the pattern
- Analyze whether the favorable deity and supporting deity are powerful or powerless
5. Major Luck Cycle Analysis
- Analyze the current Major Luck Cycle
- Analyze the overall auspicious or inauspicious trends of each step of the Major Luck Cycle
- Focus on analyzing the influence of the current Major Luck Cycle on the original chart
6. Annual Luck Analysis
- Analyze the relationship between the current year's annual luck stems and branches and the original chart and Major Luck Cycle
- Predict the trend of the current year's fortune
- May appropriately look ahead to the next 1-3 years
7. Historical Event Calibration (Key Step)
At the end of the analysis, based on the chart arrangement results and classical theory, propose 3-5 predictions of the time periods and nature of the person'salready occurredkey events, and let the user verify whether these predictions are accurate.
Example:
- "Based on the combination of your Major Luck Cycle and annual luck at age XX (XXXX year), there should have been a major change in the XXXX aspect that year (such as a career turning point / relationship change / relocation, etc.). Is this accurate?"
- "During this Major Luck Cycle from age XX to XX, the overall trend showed XXXX. At that stage, your life focus should have been in the XXXX aspect."
Based on the user's feedback on historical events, fine-tune the analysis model and correct the understanding of the pattern and favorable deities.
8. Comprehensive Recommendations
- Career direction recommendations
- Wealth Trends
- Love and Marriage
- Health Considerations
- Auspicious Directions, Colors, etc. (Optional)
All analyses should cite judgments from classical texts and indicate their sources. For example: "According to the seasonal adjustment principles in Qiong Tong Bao Dian, Jia Wood born in the You month should first use Ding Fire to control Metal..."
Handling of Edge Cases
| Case | Handling Method |
|---|---|
| Unknown birth hour | Mark the hour pillar as "Unknown" and only perform a six-character (year, month, day) analysis, without inferring anything related to the hour pillar |
| Both the Gregorian and lunar dates are unknown | A chart cannot be cast; advise the user to go home and check their birth certificate or ask family members |
| Born on a solar term boundary day | Note that there may be two possible month pillars and briefly analyze each |
| Born around the Beginning of Spring | The year pillar attribution must be determined precisely; the user may be reminded to confirm the exact time |
| Late Zi hour (23:00-24:00) | Calculate the hour pillar according to the next day's day pillar, and note that this is the early/late Zi hour method |
| Time of name change unknown | Record as "Unknown"; in the analysis, refer only to the current name, and note that the former name is known but the time of the name change is unknown |
| Deceased person | Collect the year of death; the analysis should only be calculated up to that year and should not calculate subsequent annual fortunes |
| Born in a leap month | The lunar date must indicate whether it is a leap month; when casting the chart, use solar terms as the standard, as it is not affected by leap months |
Notes
- Fate analysis is for cultural research and reference only and should not be regarded as scientific prediction
- Avoid giving extreme or intimidating judgments; maintain a neutral and constructive tone
- If health issues are involved, remind the user to rely on medical diagnosis
- If financial issues are involved, remind the user to make rational decisions
- At the end of the analysis, remind the user: "Fate analysis is for reference only; life lies in one's own efforts and choices."
