AI Daily Digest (Claude Native Edition)

Scrapes the latest articles from 90 popular tech blogs recommended by Karpathy, scored and filtered by Claude, generating a daily curated digest.No external AI API Key required.

Execution Flow (fully automatic by default, no user input required)

Step 0: Determine run parameters (automatic, no interaction)

Priority (from high to low)：

  1. Explicitly specified by the user in the message — e.g. "scrape 72 hours", "want 20 articles", "English" → use directly
  2. Saved configuration file — read ~/.hn-daily-digest/config.json, if it exists use its values directly
  3. Built-in default values — hours=48, topN=15, lang=zh

Only when the user's message explicitly contains words like "reconfigure", "change parameters", "customize", etc., perform interactive parameter collection. In all other cases, silently use the parameters determined by the above priority and execute directly.

Before starting execution, inform the user in one line of the actual parameters used, for example:

Step 1: Execute RSS scraping (--raw mode, no API Key required)

Wait for execution to complete, record statistics (number of sources, total articles, articles after filtering).

Step 2: Read the article list

Use the Read tool to read $RAW_FILE, to obtain the complete article JSON data.

Step 3: Claude scoring and filtering

Complete in internal thinking, do not output the intermediate score list.

For each article, score on three dimensions (1-10) based on title + description :

Dimension Scoring Criteria
relevance Practical value for tech/AI/engineering professionals, whether it solves real problems
quality Article depth, insight, writing quality, whether it has unique perspectives
timeliness Current relevance, whether it reflects the latest trends or urgent topics

Also assign to each article:

  • category: ai-ml / security / engineering / tools / opinion / other
  • keywords: 2-4 keywords

Sort by relevance + quality + timeliness total score, select the Top N articles.

Step 4: Generate summaries

For each selected article, generate:

  • titleZh(Chinese mode): Accurate Chinese title, retaining technical terms
  • summary: 4-6 sentence structured summary
    • Sentence 1: Core problem or background
    • Sentences 2-4: Main arguments, technical details, or key findings
    • Last sentence: Conclusion, impact, or action recommendation
  • reason: One-sentence recommendation reason ("why it's worth reading")

In English mode, titleZh keeps the original English title.

Step 5: Generate today's highlights

Synthesize all selected articles and write a 3-5 sentence macro trend summary:

  • Distill common themes and technology trends across articles
  • Do not enumerate articles one by one; instead distill higher-level insights
  • Concise and impactful language, aimed at technical professional readers

Step 6: Save configuration

Environment requirements

  • bun runtime (via npx -y bun automatically installed,no pre-installation required）
  • No AI API Key required
  • Network access (needs to access RSS feeds, about 30 seconds)

Troubleshooting

Problem Solution
Failed to fetch N feeds Some RSS feeds are temporarily unavailable; the script will skip them, which is normal
No articles found in time range Expand the time range (e.g., 24h → 48h)
/digest command does not take effect Restart Claude Code
Need to reselect parameters Include "reconfigure" in the message to trigger interactive mode
