About this skill

OpenClaw Attack Pattern Detector

Based on the red-line rules of the "OpenClaw Minimal Security Practice Guide" and the MITRE ATT&CK framework, it performs real-time and offline threat detection on commands, files, and network traffic. It covers attack surfaces unique to AI Agent scenarios—detecting not only traditional shell attacks but also indirect malicious behavior triggered through prompt injection.

Purpose

OpenClaw Agent has capabilities such as command execution, file read/write, and network requests. When the Agent is injected with a malicious prompt or loads a poisoned Skill, it may perform high-risk operations such as data exfiltration, reverse shells, and credential theft. This skill provides multi-layer detection capabilities, covering threat identification from the command level to the behavior chain level.

Prerequisites

Authorization Requirements

  • Log access permissions for the OpenClaw instance
  • Command history and file system read permissions
  • Network traffic monitoring permissions (if real-time detection is required)

Environment Setup

  • The target OpenClaw instance is running or has historical logs available for analysis
  • The detection rule library has been loaded (built into the script)

Core Workflow

  1. Command-level detection: Performs real-time pattern matching on a single command to identify known malicious command patterns.
  2. File-level scanning: Scans Skill files and script files to detect embedded malicious code and obfuscated payloads.
  3. Behavior chain analysis: Correlates the context of multiple commands to identify multi-step attack chains (such as reconnaissance followed by exfiltration).
  4. Network traffic detection: Analyzes outbound connection targets to detect data exfiltration and C2 communication patterns.
  5. Prompt injection detection: Identifies malicious operation instructions indirectly triggered through prompt injection.
  6. Alerting and response: Issues alerts graded by severity and provides blocking recommendations and forensic information.
