About this skill

Creator Connections Brief

Amazon expanded Creator Connections in 2025 to give brands a structured way to work with creators. The brief is what closes the deal. weak briefs get ignored, clear briefs get accepted. This skill writes them.

When to use this

  • A brand is enrolled in Creator Connections and has not run a campaign.
  • A specific creator is being approached for a paid post.
  • Building a 5-10 creator roster for a launch.
  • TikTok Shop influencer collaboration in parallel to Amazon.

The framework. The Brief Components

A creator brief that gets accepted has four sections.

  1. Product fit summary. One paragraph on what the product is, who the buyer is, and why this creator's audience matches. specific to the creator.
  1. The ask. Format (Reel, TikTok, YouTube short, post), platform, length, key message points, and what the creator should NOT do (avoid these claims, do not compare to competitor X).

  2. The deal. Commission tier or flat rate, plus any product-gift element. Tie to attributed sales where possible (see amz-attribution-campaign-planner).

  3. The logistics. Product ship-by date, content due date, posting schedule, approval flow, attribution link.

Step by step

  1. Collect inputs. Brand, product, target buyer, creator's name, channel, and typical audience.

  2. Score the fit. Audience overlap, content style match, past brand partnerships. Skip creators who do not fit. one wrong-fit post does nothing.

  3. Write the brief. Four sections above. brief is one-page max. creators do not read longer.

  4. Set the deal. Commission via Creator Connections or TikTok Shop affiliate. Flat-rate for top creators. Hybrid for the middle.

  5. Write the outreach DM. 2-3 sentences. introduce, state the fit, link to a one-pager brief. do not paste the brief into the DM.

  6. Plan the relationship. A single post is rarely worth the effort. plan a 2-3 post series with the creator for compounding effect.

  7. Run the quality check, then deliver.

Worked example

Brand: skincare line. Creator: a micro-influencer in the sensitive-skin niche, 80k followers, average 3% engagement. Fit: high. her audience is asking the same questions the product answers. Ask: one TikTok video, 30-60s, leading with the sensitive-skin angle, avoiding any medical claims. Deal: 10% commission on attributed sales via Creator Connections, plus 60 USD product gift. Outreach DM: "Hi [name], your sensitive-skin content is exactly the audience our serum is built for. We are running a 10% commission program through Amazon Creator Connections. Would you be open to a one-page brief?" Multi-post plan: if the first lands well, 2 more videos at increasing commission tiers over the next 8 weeks.

Quality check

  • Creator fit is scored, not assumed.
  • The brief is one page max. creators do not read longer.
  • The 'avoid' list is included so the creator doesn't accidentally produce unusable content.
  • The deal uses attribution (where possible) to tie commission to real outcomes.
  • A multi-post relationship is planned, not just a one-off.

Common mistakes

  • Generic outreach. A copy-paste DM with no creator-specific fit reference.
  • No 'avoid' list. A creator's first instinct may be a comparison or a medical claim that the brand cannot use.
  • Flat-rate everything. Paying upfront for a creator who never converts is expensive. Commission via Creator Connections aligns incentives.
  • One-and-done. A single post rarely justifies the work. multi-post relationships compound.
