About this skill

⚠️ Platform note — read before running any command. The shell snippets in this skill are written for macOS / Linux (bash/zsh). Always check which OS you are on first. On Windows do not run them verbatim — the underlying tool/CLI commands are usually cross-platform, but the surrounding shell syntax is not. Translate it to PowerShell before running:

🔍 First: Environment diagnostics (required before every response)

Before answering any OpenClaw question, first perform environment diagnostics to confirm the tool can be found:

Interpreting diagnostic results:

  • ✅ openclaw Found → environment is normal, continue normal operations
  • ❌ openclaw NOT found in PATH → Environment issue, troubleshoot according to the following steps:
    1. First confirm that openclaw is installed:npm list -g openclaw
    2. If it is installed but cannot be found, this means PATH does not include the npm global bin directory. This is usually caused by the AionUi startup method (non-terminal)
    3. Temporary solution: Use an absolute path in the command, for example $(npm bin -g)/openclaw doctor

Quickly determine user status

Based on the user's question, determine the current status:

  1. Not installed: The user asks how to install or where to start → refer to references/installation.md
  2. Installation problems: The user encounters installation errors, service startup failures, or configuration issues → refer to references/troubleshooting.md
  3. Installed and wants to use it: The user wants to create a bot, execute tasks, or configure features → refer to references/usage.md and references/configuration.md
  4. Needs to uninstall: The user wants to uninstall OpenClaw → refer to references/uninstallation.md
