Turn "I want to make a rack like this" into a solution that merchants can understand, users can assemble, and key assumptions can be traced. Do not mistake "the model has been drawn" for "it can be safely manufactured."
Core principles
- Define the shape and purpose first, then select the profile. "3030 load-bearing 50 kg" is not a complete condition; span, load position, support method, and specific manufacturer model will all change the result.
- Photos only provide structural intent, not reliable dimensions. Do not guess absolute dimensions from pixels when there is no known reference object.
- Base it primarily on this Skill's product library. The user list uses only Ray Aluframe catalog numbers and parameters, and the user is not required to visit other websites to complete the information.
- Mark the status of all numbers. Catalog standard values, reference cross-section values, and user assumptions must be kept separate, and reference cross-section parameters must not be passed off as measured values of any Taobao product.
- Force calculations are screening, not certification. Even if the aluminum profile body passes the preliminary check, it may still fail due to connectors, feet, panels, eccentric loads, or assembly errors.
- Changes must be recalculated locally. After changing dimensions, list the affected components, list changes, and new risks; do not redo the entire set without explanation.
Workflow
1. Determine the task level
First divide into three categories:
- Concept level: only purpose, reference image, or approximate dimensions. Deliver structural suggestions and a list of items to confirm.
- Quotation level: dimensions, loads, manufacturer/series, and usage environment are clear. Deliver a cutting and accessory list that can be sent to merchants.
- Fabrication level: also requires hole positions, machining, assembly, and final verification. Specific manufacturer data must be available, and a merchant/professional review gate must be retained.
Enter if any of the following applies:Restricted mode: carrying people, lifting, suspended, stairs/guardrails, critical vehicle structures, load-bearing items with serious consequences if damaged such as aquariums, high-speed moving equipment such as robots/spindles, obvious impact or fatigue loads. Restricted mode only organizes requirements, risks, and professional review questions, and does not output a "can be directly manufactured" conclusion.
2. Do minimal clarification
Prioritize reusing information the user has already provided. Ask only about gaps that would change the structure, one at a time, and do not dump the entire form on a beginner. At minimum confirm:
- What it is for, where it will be placed, and who will come into contact with it
- Whether length/width/height are outer dimensions, clear dimensions, or tabletop dimensions
- Total load, load per layer, whether the load is uniformly distributed or concentrated, and whether there is vibration/movement
- Whether shelves, doors, guards, casters, leveling feet, or wall fixing are needed
- Whether the manufacturer/purchasing channel has been decided; if not, whether a general solution first is acceptable
- Whether cost, stiffness, lightness, appearance, or future modification is most important
For structures with wheels, also confirm the total loaded weight, the floor/threshold in use, movement frequency, whether it is pushed when the load is biased to one side, how many wheels have brakes, the handle position, and how it is prevented from tipping when parked.
You may give "size examples that are easy to understand," but you must not package any example as a shortcut to purchasing without measurement. The user must confirm the outer dimensions, clearances, and key object dimensions before entering quotation level; otherwise remain at concept level.
When reconstructing from an image, first dofront topology inventory, then find one known dimension that the user can confirm. Without a reference dimension, describe only the topology and do not report absolute lengths. The topology inventory must at least clearly list item by item:
- outer frame boundaries and main upright positions
- how many vertical columns it is divided into, and how many horizontal bays each column is divided into
- which horizontal beams run through the full width, and which exist only in a certain column
- which are doors, drawers, shelves, back panels, or pegboards, and which are hidden supports inferred only after being obscured
- identify each item as high/medium/low confidence; for medium and low confidence, have the user confirm before modeling
For each component and appearance item, write evidence_basis: for what is directly visible in the original image use visible, for hidden supports added for structural completeness use inferred, and after the user confirms with dimensions or an explicit reply use confirmed; at the same time record confidence and the basis explanation. You must not automatically treat a door panel boundary as an internal load-bearing shelf.
First generate an unobstructed front view, and check it side by side with the reference image for "number of columns, number of bays per column, continuous/local horizontal beams, door panel boundaries." In the design keep reference_image and in reference_topology record these hard conditions. Put multi-angle photos into reference_images, and label each one as front, back, left/right side, top, or detail. The interactive preview must provide transparent overlay of the reference image, pan and zoom, two-point scale calibration, and clear left/right and zone confirmation; inferred components are de-emphasized in proofing mode and can be clicked to view the basis. If the topology or recognition basis check has not passed, you must not continue to generate the complete 3D preview, cut list, or purchasing list. For the complete questions, data format, and delivery templates, see workflow-and-deliverables.md and design-data.md。
3. First draw the load path
Use one sentence to explain how weight is transferred from the object to the shelf, horizontal beams, uprights, and ground. Then determine:
- number and positions of uprights
- direction of long-side/short-side horizontal beams
- whether a center support, diagonal brace, or back panel is needed for lateral sway resistance
- aspect ratio and anti-tip measures
- how casters or feet transfer force to the ground
Give at least onerecommended solution. Only when there is a clear tradeoff in cost, lightness, or disassemblability, give one alternative; do not pile up three or four similar options to avoid making a judgment.
4. Use your own product library
First read product-catalog.json. This is the only default product library when generating solutions, including profile/linear shaft outer shapes, slot systems, standard accessories, fasteners, feet, panel fasteners, and complete kits that can be directly expanded. Query as needed; do not read the entire file into context:
python3 <skill-dir>/scripts/query_product_catalog.py 3030 --kind profile --slot 8
python3 <skill-dir>/scripts/query_product_catalog.py 4040 --kind profile --supplier 建恩
python3 <skill-dir>/scripts/query_product_catalog.py 直角角码 --kind product --series 30 --slot 8
python3 <skill-dir>/scripts/query_product_catalog.py --kind kit --series 30
A quotation-level solution must record for each type of profile and connector:
- catalog number, series, outer dimensions, actual slot width, and default thread
- weight per meter and supplied length
- inertia parameters in two directions; when strength checking is needed, also section modulus and material strength
- compatible nuts, bolts with explicit lengths, corner brackets/internal connectors
- whether end tapping, through holes, countersinks, or other machining are required
- data status: complete kit, geometric parameters, reference cross-section, or fields to be supplemented
Do not attach third-party links such as Linggo, MISUMI, item, or MayCAD, or separate comparison tables, when delivering to the user. When the product library already has a complete set, directly expand this catalog's part numbers, specifications, and quantities. When the product library is missing fields, explicitly write "currently unavailable in this catalog" and do not temporarily attach third-party parameters into the list during an ordinary design task.
Only in an independent task of maintaining the product library should you consult original manufacturer materials or saved source snapshots. After verification, write the results into the own catalog, record internal traceability and the date, and then use them for design tasks. E-commerce titles can only be used to discover candidates and cannot serve as the source of carrying parameters. For maintenance methods and coverage, see product-catalog-guide.md; for field descriptions, see design-data.md。
The complete systems that can currently be directly expanded are "20 series slot 6/M5", "30 series slot 8/M6", and "40 series slot 8/M6". The product library also covers exposed corner brackets, internal anchor connections, end face connections, flat connecting plates, adjustable feet, floor mounting plates, caster adapter plates, common braked caster specifications, cabinet locks, touch latches, limit chains, support rods, sliding rails, insert strips, and sealing strips. The rated capacity of casters and support rods must be filled in only after binding them to specific products; the catalog does not guess load capacity based on shape. Product titles writing "European standard" or "30 series" are still not enough; keep one full-set supply confirmation at the end of the list, and at the same time verify the profile shape, actual slot width, center hole, slot nut thread, corner bracket hole diameter, and positioning boss.
40 series slot 8 and 40 series slot 10 must continue to be kept separate because they are not the same accessory system. For 15 series, 40 series slot 10, 45 series slot 10, and 50 series slot 10, when the existing connector information is incomplete, list only the profiles and do not automatically generate "directly purchasable" connector combinations.
When the user needs round shafts or uncommon profiles, still query the own product library. Only data_status with geometry_and_engineering_reference can participate in preliminary deformation comparison;geometry_only is only used for dimensions, slot system, and shape selection.
The 59 saved models of Jian'en Aluminum have already been built in. Their product names, wall thickness, weight per meter, surface descriptions, source pages, and displayed prices can be queried directly; supply is uniformly by full length of 6100 mm, and prices are uniformly in yuan/meter.supplier_geometry_and_mass is only used for procurement screening and weight estimation; when there are no inertia parameters, it must not be used for load-bearing or deflection calculations. Source pages for which no price has been loaded remain empty, and similar models must not be used to guess.
5. Build the design list and run checks
For complex plans or any inquiry-level/production-level plan, write the design as JSON, with fields according to design-data.md, then run:
python3 <skill-dir>/scripts/prepare_quote_package.py design.json --output quote-ready-design.json
python3 <skill-dir>/scripts/check_frame.py quote-ready-design.json --report report.md
python3 <skill-dir>/scripts/render_frame_svg.py design.json --output preview.svg
python3 <skill-dir>/scripts/render_assembly_svg.py design.json --output assembly-preview.svg
python3 <skill-dir>/scripts/render_interactive_html.py quote-ready-design.json --output interactive-preview.html
python3 <skill-dir>/scripts/generate_construction_pdf.py design.json --output construction-report.pdf
python3 <skill-dir>/scripts/generate_pairing_list.py quote-ready-design.json --output pairing-list.md
For an ordinary shelf, workbench, or machine cover, you can first generate an editable design with a short configuration:
python3 <skill-dir>/scripts/generate_parametric_frame.py config.json design.json
When dense components cause label obstruction, add --labels none to generate a clean preview for user confirmation; the complete component numbers are still based on the inspection report and design list.
The script is responsible for:
- Checking component numbers, coordinates, duplicate rods, and floating endpoints
- Checking whether connector and component references are complete
- Performing preliminary deformation and optional strength checks on clear crossbeams
- Comparing demand/capacity for connectors with clear rated values
- Checking lateral anti-sway measures in two directions, support surface anti-tipping safety ratio, and single-wheel caster load
- Generating cutting combinations according to raw material length, saw kerf, and end trimming
- Summarizing profiles, connectors, accessories, and machining items
- Merging profiles, corner brackets, bolts, slot nuts, base feet/casters, and panel fasteners into one intuitive matching list
- Determining whether the current status is "draft", "pending review", or "ready for inquiry"
- Expanding known European-standard slot system nodes into explicit corner brackets, bolts, and post-install nuts, and specifying whether machining is required
- Form a complete budget range covering profiles, hardware, panels, processing, allowances, and transport
- Output a method for item-by-item verification upon arrival and an assembly sequence that will not get stuck due to a missing nut
Prioritize interactive-preview.html to the user to confirm the plan. It can switch between "Structure / Real", drag to rotate, scroll to zoom, switch front/side/top views, hide shelf boards or hardware, click components or hardware to view specifications, trace components back from the cutting summary, and view the assembly sequence step by step. Real mode must generate three-dimensional profile solids with slots and center holes, while also representing panels, node corner brackets, bolts, and feet; it must not use 2D lines with a metallic gradient to fake a 3D effect. Corner brackets must be generated according to the product library's width, two arm lengths, thickness, and hole diameters, with the mounting face falling within the angle between the beam and the column, and bolts falling on the horizontal and vertical faces respectively; the corner bracket center must not coincide with the profile center, and two floating rectangular pieces must not be used as a substitute. Shelf small corner brackets, panel clips, slot nuts, and adjustable feet must also be rendered according to the net quantities in the accessory list, and must be clickable to view this catalog number, compatible range, and fasteners. The hardware summary must also have a truly operable "View Installation Position" button that expands each node one by one and highlights its location in the model; explanatory text must not be written to look like a button. Appearance dimensions not recorded in the product library should only be represented generically; do not fabricate precise values or imply that they are completely consistent with a certain merchant's product. The file contains the current plan, 3D preview capability, and local catalog parameters, can be opened independently, and does not depend on an external website. "Download Plan" must export the raw material stick counts, cutting remnants, costs, door panels, hardware, receiving checklist, and reference image proofing records corresponding to the page's current dimensions; the downloaded JSON can be directly used to rerun the inspection script. After generation, a real browser must be used to check mode and viewpoint switching, profile and hardware selection, list linkage, assembly steps, download, and narrow-screen display.
When the user needs to try modifying dimensions themselves, according to design-data.md add editable. Left-right split cabinet bodies use split_cabinet_v1; shelving units, workbenches, and enclosures use bay_frame_v1, and only expose the overall width, depth, overall height, horizontal divisions, divider positions, number of tiers, and tier heights for which structural rules are clear. After page modifications, the model, nodes, main profile cutting, door frame cutting, door panel dimensions, accessory quantities, raw material stick counts, remnants, and costs must be updated synchronously, and it must be clearly indicated that load-bearing capacity and stability still need to be rechecked after export. Do not directly scale an arbitrary model as a whole when there are no parametric rules.
When the reference image includes cabinet doors, use doors to record each door's boundary, surrounding gaps, door frame specifications, panel catalog number, thickness, opening method, hinge side, hinge quantity, handle, magnetic catch/touch latch, and opening clearance. Flap doors must have a limit chain or support added. Door hardware continues to be expanded down to every bolt and slot nut; check door frame overlap, hinge quantity, opening clearance, flap limit, and hardware fastener completeness. An open door must not continue to be disguised as an ordinary fixed panel. The preview must draw the door frame, panels, hinges, handles, closures, and flap limit; the list must list the actual cutting dimensions of each PC board, acrylic board, or wooden board and the quantities of all door hardware.
The SVG preview image continues to be used for quick viewing in chat and for document illustrations. All previews are only for beginners to verify component positions and overall proportions, and are not processing drawings. After confirming that there are no missing rods, wrong tiers, obstructions, or failed interactions, then have the user confirm the plan and organize the quotation package.
When the user wants "close to the actual effect", in the design list's visuals Add middle shelf panels, back panels/display panels, and adjustable feet/casters, then generate an assembly rendering. The assembly rendering shall express material relationships using silver slotted profiles, node hardware, panels, and feet/casters; it is not a photograph, and no judgment of color, surface defects, or exact connector shapes may be made based on it. Every accessory in the rendering must have a corresponding entry in the procurement list.
When the user needs a formal document similar to MayCAD, generate a PDF construction document. The PDF shall include an isometric structure diagram, a material list merged by profile and length, raw material cutting combinations, a preliminary beam check, the assembly sequence, and items pending merchant confirmation. Connectors, panels, or machining not bound to a manufacturer must not be disguised as finalized; clearly mark them as pending confirmation in the document. After generation, every page must be converted to an image and the layout actually checked.
Do not manually override failures reported by the script. When design data is incomplete, keep "not checked"; do not use default values to fake a pass.
6. Output a delivery package the user can actually use
Output in this order:
- One-sentence conclusion:what structure is recommended, and whether inquiry/manufacturing is currently possible
- Confirmed conditions and assumptions
- Dimensions and structure diagram:indicate coordinate directions, outer dimensions, clearances, and layer heights
- Cutting list:component number, profile part number, length, quantity, end treatment
- Intuitive matching list:list catalog numbers, explicit specifications, net quantities, and recommended purchase quantities; profiles, corner brackets, bolts of explicit length, slot nuts, feet/casters, and panel fasteners shall be placed in the same list set and must not be split into separate tables by data source
- Connection and machining table:the connectors, quantities, and hole/tapping positions for each node
- Procurement list:profiles, connectors, accessories, shelf panels/face panels, distinguishing required from optional
- Assembly sequence:first the base frame, then the uprights, then the middle layer, and finally squaring and re-tightening
- Check results:passed items, unchecked items, blocking items
- Confirmation questions to send to the merchant:compatibility, machining, tolerances, stock availability, and quotation
Connector quantities, models, and machining positions are formal deliverables and must not be written merely as "several". If no manufacturer has been selected yet, explicitly write "structural quantities are determined; part numbers and machining pending manufacturer binding".
7. Handle modifications
Save a copy of the previous design list. When the user says "change the width to 1500":
- Identify all affected long-side members, shelf panels, load spans, and cutting combinations.
- Modify only these items and their related nodes.
- Re-run the checks.
- Output differences in four categories: "added/deleted/changed/unchanged".
- If the original profile no longer satisfies the requirements, explain why and give the minimal modification, prioritizing middle supports, changing the load direction, or upgrading key beams, rather than blindly thickening the entire frame.
Prohibitions
- Do not claim load-bearing capacity based on the names "2020/3030/4040".
- Do not precisely infer dimensions from a single photo without a reference.
- Do not mix profiles, nuts, and connectors from different manufacturers by default.
- Do not fabricate part numbers, hole positions, prices, stock status, or software files.
- Do not write "structurally safe" merely because the beam deformation check passes.
- Do not claim to have generated MayCAD, CAD, or other proprietary files without actually opening and verifying them.
- Do not hide boundaries such as "unchecked connection strength, lateral stability, fatigue, and floor anchoring."
Initial Version Support Scope
Prioritize shelving, workbenches, tool carts, 3D printer stands, light equipment bases, display stands, and simple enclosures for individual players and small studios. For tasks beyond this scope, requirements organization, structural sketches, information gap lists, and professional review checklists can still be completed.
