About this skill

A13 — editorial photo + headline

Composes

  • camera-pan (slow Ken-Burns on the photograph)
  • slide per word on the headline (each word lands separately)
  • crossfade into and out of the photo (vs. hard-cut elsewhere in the spot)
  • Optional grain-overlay (pack-specified)

Layout

canvas: 1080x1920 (or pack-specified)

photo_layer: fill: bleed (entire canvas) source: user-provided photograph initial_scale: 1.00 final_scale: 1.08 drift_y_px: -20

type_layer: position: lower-third or top-third (varies per scene) origin: { x: 60, y: canvas_h * 0.75 } align: left font_family: serif italic (Playfair Display Italic / GT Sectra) font_size: from pack.type.display color: ink (often ivory or charcoal depending on photo) z_index: above photo

Style pack compatibility

supported: [SP-C, SP-D]
preferred_in: [SP-C]
incompatible: [SP-A, SP-B, SP-E, SP-F, SP-G]

Editorial / luxury packs only. Saturated packs use color-block-slate (A7) instead.

Pack-specific overrides

SP-C (editorial-cinematic)

  • Grain overlay applied per pack's micro-imperfection.
  • Crop-marks visible in corners (chrome).
  • Music: slow ambient piano.

SP-D (editorial-magazine)

  • Used sparingly as an intro/outro slate; primary archetype is A10.

Duration

duration_seconds: [4.0, 6.0]
default: 5.0

Long hold — the photograph needs to breathe.

Quality Checks

  • Camera-pan is linear (no easing) — Ken-Burns should feel continuous.
  • Crossfade in and out, not hard-cut.
  • Type sits over a high-contrast region of the photo (or has a subtle backdrop blur).
  • Grain overlay (if pack requires) is applied uniformly across the photo.

Failure Modes

  • Photo and type fight for attention. Type sits over busy photo region. Move type to a calmer area or add a backdrop blur.
  • Camera-pan accelerates at start/end. Easing isn't linear.
  • Type words appear simultaneously. Per-word stagger missing.
  • Photo's edge clips visibly during scale-in. Initial scale too small. Start at 1.02+ so the scale-in doesn't show empty canvas.
