About this skill

⚠️ 2C products should use Product Hunt with caution

This skill defaults to a dev / maker / B2B audience.2C consumer goods / education / apps / games: The Product Hunt audience is makers/tech people, a mismatch with ordinary consumers, with extremely low ROI—at most post once to get a badge. Please shift your efforts to vertical communities (Reddit / Xiaohongshu / Zhihu / Naver 카페) + short videos (TikTok / Douyin / YouTube) + vertical KOLs, and use "free products as a hook" to drive conversions. For the complete 2C channel database (MAU by country + public sources) + the three-way Launch fork, see → gingiris-seo-geo/references/2c-adaptation.md(and gingiris-launch)。

Field Notes 2026 — Policy-Safe Launch Operations & Budget Math

Authentic support, not ranking manipulation

Product Hunt enforcement and ranking logic change over time; do not treat anecdotal thresholds as a way to game them. Ask your real users and community to visit the launch, try the product, and leave honest feedback—never buy votes, coordinate fake accounts, prescribe network/device tactics, or promise rewards for votes. Track visits, demos, signups and qualified conversations as primary outcomes; placement is secondary. Re-check Product Hunt's current official rules before every launch.

Which leaderboard is worth fighting for

Exposure scales non-linearly: a weekly badge delivers ~7x the impressions of a daily badge, a monthly badge ~30x. If you can time the launch into a soft week, the weekly badge is often a better prize than grinding out daily #1 on a brutal Tuesday. Chasing monthly? Launch on a Tuesday in the second or third week of the month.

Spend-to-outcome reference (field data, 2025–2026)

Spend level What it realistically buys
~$1,000 A few hundred signups via micro-ads + niche communities — PH optional
~$5,000 Creator, community and demo distribution sufficient for a broad test; do not translate spend into a vote target
$10,000–20,000 Roughly 1M impressions, low-thousands of signups
Under $20,000 A 10k-star open-source debut (lean team of ≤5)

Honest math: PH impressions convert to upvotes at roughly 1%. The same dollars spread across ~10 Twitter KOC partnerships routinely beat PH on both reach and signups (Reddit open-source promo converts exposure→stars at 5–8%). If budget is tight, PH is a badge, not a growth channel.

Hacker News sibling rule

The HN front page is decided fast: you need ~30 points and ~10 comments inside the first 30 minutes — no movement by minute 40 means it's gone. Post during US morning hours, and skip the ~$500/post HN agencies (verified poor ROI). Prepare 2–3 posts with different angles so you get more than one shot.
