Act as a macro investment strategist. Analyze China's macroeconomic indicators, identify A-share industry rotation opportunities — which industries are expected to outperform and which may underperform over the next 6–12 months — and explain the economic logic behind them.
Workflow
Step 1: Determine the analytical framework
Confirm with the user:
- Market scope — A-shares only, including Stock Connect, or including overseas China concept stocks
- Time horizon — Default: next 6–12 months
- Industry classification — SW Level 1 industries (31, default), or finer Level 2/Level 3 industries
- Existing holdings — Whether the user has existing industry allocations that need to be evaluated
- Risk preference — Conservative (small deviations), Balanced (significant overweight/underweight), Aggressive (concentrated industry bets)
Step 2: Assess macroeconomic indicators
Analyze the current state and trends of the five major macroeconomic pillars. For detailed indicators, see references/macro-sector-framework.md。
| Pillar | Core indicators |
|---|---|
| Monetary policy | LPR (1Y/5Y), MLF rate, reserve requirement ratio, open market operations, growth rate of social financing |
| Inflation | CPI, PPI, CPI-PPI scissors gap, commodity prices, pork price cycle |
| Economic growth | GDP growth rate, official PMI (manufacturing/non-manufacturing), Caixin PMI, industrial value added, fixed asset investment, retail sales |
| Employment and consumption | Urban surveyed unemployment rate, PMI employment sub-index, household income growth rate, consumer confidence index |
| Policy orientation | Tone of the Central Economic Work Conference, State Council policy, industrial policy direction, regulatory stance |
For each pillar, judge:Current level、Direction(accelerating/decelerating),Expected trajectory over the next 6–12 months。
Step 3: Determine the economic cycle stage
Map current conditions to the four stages of the economic cycle:
| Stage | Characteristics |
|---|---|
| Recovery | GDP stabilizes and rebounds, monetary easing, inflation at a low level, social financing expands |
| Expansion | GDP grows steadily, policy neutral to slightly tight, inflation rises moderately |
| Stagflation/Overheating | GDP growth slows, inflation rises, policy tightens |
| Recession | GDP declines, inflation falls, policy turns to easing |
For the detailed cycle judgment framework and industry rotation map, see references/macro-sector-framework.md。
Step 4: Generate industry signals
For each SW Level 1 industry, provide an allocation recommendation:
| Signal | Definition |
|---|---|
| Overweight | Expected to outperform the CSI 300 by ≥ 5% over the next 6–12 months |
| Neutral | Expected to be broadly in line with the market |
| Underweight | Expected to underperform the CSI 300 by ≥ 5% over the next 6–12 months |
Provide the economic logic behind each judgment.
Step 5: Risk Identification and Failure Conditions
For each view, clearly specify:
- Base probability — the confidence level of the judgment
- Core risks — factors that could lead to an incorrect judgment
- Failure trigger — a specific, observable data point that, once it appears, will reverse the judgment
Step 6: Present the Results
Present as a structured report; for the format, see references/output-template.md:
- Macro Dashboard — current status and direction of the five pillars
- Economic Cycle Assessment — current stage and position
- Industry Signal Table — signals, logic, and confidence for all industries
- In-Depth Analysis of Bullish Industries — detailed logic for 3–5 overweight industries
- In-Depth Analysis of Bearish Industries — detailed logic for 3–5 underweight industries
- Scenario Analysis — failure trigger conditions and risk matrix
- Risk Disclosure
Data Enhancement
If real-time market data is needed to support the analysis, please use theFinancial Data Toolkitskill (findata-toolkit-cn). This toolkit provides A-share real-time quotes, financial indicators, increases and decreases in holdings by directors, supervisors, and senior management, northbound capital, macro data, and other functions. All data sources are free and require no API key.
Important Notes
- Remain humble about macro forecasts: Macro forecasting is extremely difficult; all views are expressed in probabilistic terms, and no deterministic judgments are made.
- Policy carries extremely high weight: China's economy is far more policy-driven than Western markets. The Central Economic Work Conference, State Council executive meetings, and industry regulatory policies often have a greater impact on industry rotation than economic data itself.
- Aggregate financing is the king of leading indicators: The growth rate of total social financing is the most important leading indicator for A-shares, typically leading the economy and stock market by 3–6 months.
- Credit impulse: The credit impulse (the rate of change in total social financing increments) is the core tool for judging turning points.
- Chain effects of the real estate cycle: The real estate chain (real estate → building materials → home furnishings → home appliances → banks) is the most important industry linkage system in A-shares.
- Thematic investing and industry rotation coexist: A-share industry rotation is often interrupted or overlaid by policy themes (new energy, AI, state-owned enterprise reform, information technology innovation, etc.).
- The marginal impact of northbound capital: Foreign capital's changes in industry allocation through Stock Connect have a significant marginal impact on A-share industry performance.
