About this skill

Blender Hair Curves

Use only native CURVES hair objects; do not describe ordinary Curve splines as hair. Require a named mesh surface and strand point arrays in that surface's local coordinate space.

Create the strands with explicit radius, then inspect strand count, point count and surface binding. Review root placement and silhouette from the intended camera before delivery.

The current interface covers authored guide strands, not grooming brushes, interpolation node assets or production hair shading. Use manual takeover or a separately registered capability when those are required.

When to Use

Use when native Hair Curves guide strands based on a mesh surface are needed, and root binding and editable strand data are required.

Prerequisites

  • Specify the surface mesh, local-coordinate strand points, radius, count, and desired contour.
  • Confirm the object is indeed native CURVES hair, not a regular Curve spline.

Workflow

Step 1. Check the surface object, transform, and local coordinate system. Step 2. Create strand points in root-to-tip order, set radius, and bind to the surface. Step 3. Check root positions, point counts, strand counts, and abnormal lengths. Step 4. Review the contour from the edit view and the delivery camera, then save and reopen to verify the binding.

Validation

Provide the object type, source surface, strand/point counts, root distances, radius range, and camera previews; recheck the same data after reopening.

Rules and Capability Boundaries (Not Applicable Scenarios)

Does not cover grooming brushes, interpolation node assets, dynamics, or production-grade hair shading, and does not describe regular curves as Hair Curves.

Gotchas

  • Floating roots: verify local coordinates and surface transform.
  • Reversed strand direction: adjust point order rather than rotating the entire object to mask it.
  • Sparse contour: first confirm whether interpolation capability is required, and do not arbitrarily duplicate a large number of guide strands.
