About this skill

Grease Pencil

Create named layers and Grease Pencil materials before strokes. Add points in object-local 3D coordinates with explicit radius, opacity, frame and cyclic state. Keep line art, guides and fills on separate layers when they have different editing or animation needs.

Inspect frame/stroke/point counts and material indices, then review the drawing from the delivery camera and at edit-friendly views. Save and reopen to prove the strokes remain editable. The current interface creates stroke frames and materials; advanced modifiers and hand-drawn brush dynamics require a later explicit capability or manual takeover.

When to Use

Use when editable Grease Pencil layers, storyboard line art, annotations, frame-by-frame drawing, or 2D/3D hybrid elements are needed.

Prerequisites

  • Specify the coordinate space, layer, frame number, material, point sequence, radius, opacity, and closed state.
  • Distinguish line art, guide lines, and fills; confirm the delivery camera and timeline range.

Workflow

Step 1. Create named objects, layers, and materials, and lock object transforms. Step 2. Write structured strokes and points per frame; do not pass off screen coordinates as local 3D coordinates. Step 3. Check material indices, point order, and closed state, then correct the geometry from the edit view. Step 4. Review occlusion and line width from the delivery camera, and save and reopen to verify editability.

Validation

Report layer, frame, stroke, point, and material index counts, and provide a delivery camera preview along with the same checks after saving and reopening.

Rules and Capability Boundaries (Out-of-Scope Cases)

Do not claim support for advanced modifiers, hand-drawn brush dynamics, or a complete traditional animation toolchain; hand off to a human when capability is missing.

Gotchas (Common Issues and Recovery)

  • Strokes not visible: check the frame number, layer visibility, material, and camera clipping.
  • Line jumping: recheck the point order and coordinate space.
  • Loss on reopen: stop delivery and retain the original stroke data for reconstruction.
