When to use
- The user asks to "make a table", "need Excel"
- A budget, estimate, or costing is required
- A plan with dates and responsible persons is needed
- A report with numerical data
- Any structured data
Work process
1. Clarify the details
Before creating, ask:
- Purpose: What is the table for? (accounting, planning, analysis)
- Data: Which columns are needed?
- Calculations: Are formulas needed? (sums, percentages, averages)
- Visualization: Is a chart needed?
2. Determine the structure
Typical structures:
| Type | Columns |
|---|---|
| Budget | Item, Plan, Actual, Difference |
| Task plan | Task, Responsible, Deadline, Status |
| Sales | Date, Product, Quantity, Amount |
| Contacts | Name, Company, Email, Phone |
3. Call the tool
createDocument({ type: 'excel', title: 'Table name', content: { headers: ['Column 1', 'Column 2', ...], rows: [ ['Value 1', 'Value 2', ...], ... ], formulas: { 'B10': '=SUM(B2:B9)' } } })
Rules for good tables
Do
- Clear column headers
- Uniform data format in a column
- Total rows with formulas
- Formatting for readability
Don't do
- Merging cells unnecessarily
- Mixing data types in one column
- Manual calculations instead of formulas
- Too many columns (more than 10-12)
Available formulas
| Formula | What it does |
|---|---|
| =SUM(A1:A10) | Sum of a range |
| =AVERAGE(A1:A10) | Average value |
| =COUNT(A1:A10) | Count of numbers |
| =MAX(A1:A10) | Maximum |
| =MIN(A1:A10) | Minimum |
| =A1*B1 | Multiplication |
| =A1/B1*100 | Percentage |
Example queries
Simple:
"Make a table of expenses for the month"
Detailed:
"I need a table for tracking sales: date, product, quantity, price, amount. At the bottom, the total by amount. Add a sales chart by day."
