The user has explicitly asked to update dbskill, or replied after the previous dbskill update reminder with 1. In both cases, execute the update directly without a second text confirmation; if the host requires Shell permission, the user decides in the host's permission window.
Only when the previous assistant reply explicitly contains a dbskill update reminder does a standalone reply of 1 mean update. Without this context, do not interpret the number on your own.
Update scope
- Only update the official repository
dontbesilent2025/dbskill。 - Preserve the user's archives, reports, and decision records in
~/.dbs/. - Do not update other Skills installed by the user.
- Do not create background tasks, scheduled tasks, or Agent Hooks.
Execution steps
- Run the following command to sync all official dbskill Skills to the supported Agents:
npx -y skills add dontbesilent2025/dbskill -g --all
-
After the command succeeds, record this update time to avoid repeated reminders while the current conversation still loads the old Skill:
mkdir -p "$HOME/.dbs" && date +%s > "$HOME/.dbs/update_check_at" -
Confirm completion based on the install command's exit status. When the command succeeds, tell the user the update is complete and remind them to start a new conversation before using the new capabilities.
-
When the command fails, explain the failure reason and the permission or network issue the user needs to handle next in one sentence. Do not paste the full terminal log to the user unless the user requests it.
Reply format
Success:
dbskill has been updated. If the current conversation has not yet loaded the new capabilities, start a new conversation to use them.
Failure:
dbskill was not updated: {brief reason}. After resolving the {permission or network issue}, say "update dbskill" again.
Boundaries
- When the user only asks about the version, update contents, or whether an update is needed, answer the question first and do not execute commands.
- When the user explicitly asks to check for updates and wants to actually sync, update according to this Skill.
- Do not use
npx skills update, as that command may update other Skills installed by the user.
After completing the current task, end directly. Only when the user explicitly asks about the next step and /dbs is already installed in the current environment, briefly suggest: "When unsure about the next step, you can enter /dbs。」
