- Load
~/.claude/plugins/config/claude-for-legal-zh/legal-clinic/CLAUDE.md→ identity (must be supervisor), practice area, jurisdiction. - Use the following workflow.
- If the user is not a supervisor, stop and redirect (students run
/legal-clinic:ramp)。 - Progress step by step: practice area → intake questions → teaching posture → review gates → cross-plugin checks → local rules.
- Write
~/.claude/plugins/config/claude-for-legal-zh/legal-clinic/guides/<实践领域>.md. If needed, create theguides/directory. - Offer a test run—run
/legal-clinic:draftunder the configured posture so the supervisor can see the student perspective.
/legal-clinic:build-guide
There may be multiple guides—one per practice area. Re-run this command to revise. Edit the guide file directly for quick changes.
Write guide: A supervisor-authored practice-area guide
Purpose
A supervisor guide is a knob that shifts student-facing skills from "do the work" toward "teach the student to do the work." Every student-facing skill in this plugin reads the guide before producing output: intake asks questions as the supervisor requires, drafting skills pick a teaching posture (assist / guide / teach), review gates route what the supervisor cares about to the supervisor, and cross-plugin checks wrap other plugins' skills in a teaching layer.
This skill helps a supervisor write that guide in 5-10 minutes per practice area. The guide is a plain markdown file at a known path—it can be edited by hand at any time.
Audience: supervisors. Not students. Students run /legal-clinic:ramp and then use student-facing skills; they do not write guides.
Work product header
Every output of this skill is a supervisor-facing configuration artifact, not student work product.Do notprepend [AI辅助草稿 —— 需学生分析和指导律师审查]to this skill's output—that label is for student output. The guide file this skill writes is a supervisor configuration document; it lives in the plugin configuration directory next to CLAUDE.md, not in a matter workspace.
Key matters your guide should address
Provide a checklist that a supervisor can skim quickly or use as an interview outline:
- What do students need to know before touching a case? (professional responsibility rules, confidentiality, the scope of their authority)
- What are the 3-5 most common mistakes students make in this practice area? How should skills catch them?
- When must a student stop and get your sign-off? (filings, sending to a client, making a statement, advising on strategy)
- What is the reading-level target for client communications? (legal aid typically targets a middle-school level)
- What local rules, forms, or deadlines should every student know?
- When should skills teach vs. do? (by document type—defaults can be set and overridden by type)
Present the checklist at the start of the interview so the supervisor knows what to discuss next and can flag which items they already have clear views on and which need thought. Items the supervisor says to skip are skipped directly; mark them in the guide as "unspecified—skill uses default."
Workflow
Step 1: Check identity
This is the supervising lawyer skill. Read ~/.claude/plugins/config/claude-for-legal-zh/legal-clinic/CLAUDE.md → ## 谁在使用这个插件 → identity. If the identity is not "supervising lawyer", say:
This skill is for supervising lawyers—it configures the behavior of student-facing skills. If you are a supervising lawyer, please make sure your practice profile identity is set to "supervising lawyer" in
/legal-clinic:cold-start-interview. If you are a student, this is not the right skill for you—run/legal-clinic:rampto import, or ask your supervising lawyer to write guidelines for your clinic.
If the identity is not supervising lawyer, stop.
Step 2: Which practice area?
Which clinic type is this guideline for? (Labor disputes / Marriage and family / Consumer rights / Administrative disputes / Criminal defense / Other)
If the answer is "Other", ask for a short name—the name becomes the file name (lowercase, hyphenated).
Check CLAUDE.md → ## 诊所画像 → practice areas listed under practice areas. If the selected practice area is not listed there, note: "I will write this guideline, but your practice profile does not list [area] as one of your clinic's practice areas. That's fine—you can add it later through /legal-clinic:cold-start-interview --redo —but until the profile lists it, student-facing skills will not route intake to that area."
If ~/.claude/plugins/config/claude-for-legal-zh/legal-clinic/guides/<实践领域>.md already has a guideline, offer the options: "A guideline for [area] already exists at [path]. Do you want to (a) revise section by section, (b) start over and overwrite, or (c) look at the existing content first?"
Step 3: Intake questions
What should students ask a new client for this type of clinic? I will start with the general intake for [practice area]—tell me what to add, delete, or change. What red flags should students watch for? What makes a case suitable for your clinic vs. something that should be referred out?
Show the general intake default questions for that practice area—use the same defaults used by client-intake (Labor disputes: employer, position, start date, contract signed, dispute type, arbitration status, evidence, limitation period; Marriage and family: relationship and dispute focus, children, safety, existing rulings, limitation period; Consumer rights: dispute type, amount, communication records, documents, existing complaints, limitation period; Administrative disputes: administrative agency, act type, reconsideration status, key documents, limitation period). For practice areas outside these four, ask the supervising lawyer to describe intake from scratch.
Record: questions to add, questions to delete, questions to rephrase, red flags (list), suitability criteria (what makes a case accepted by the clinic vs. referred out).
Step 4: Teaching posture
How much does the skill do vs. how much does the student do?
- Guide (default): The skill produces structure; the student fills in the substance; the skill gives feedback. Balanced—most clinics start here.
- Assist: The skill produces the work product; the student reviews it and learns through editing. Fastest, least pedagogical. Suitable for high-volume clinics or tight deadlines.
- Teach: The skill does not produce the work product—the student drafts, the skill gives Socratic feedback, and only after two attempts does it show a model. Slowest, most pedagogical. Suitable for seminar-style clinics or when learning is the primary goal.
You can set this by document type (e.g., teach for client letters, assist for legal memoranda).
Record the default posture for that practice area, and any per-document-type overrides. Per-document-type settings read by the skill:
pedagogy_posture_default: assist | guide | teachpedagogy_posture_client_letter: [覆盖]pedagogy_posture_memo: [覆盖]pedagogy_posture_draft: [覆盖]
If the supervising attorney mentions a file type for which no skill currently exists, record the expected posture in the pedagogy_posture_other: block and note it—a future skill can read it.
Step 5: Review gates
Which work products need your review before they go to the client? Which can students send directly? Default: all client-facing content requires review.
Present the options in a table for the supervising attorney to fill in:
| Work product | Gate |
|---|---|
| Intake summary | [Student drafts; supervising attorney reviews at case rounds / supervising attorney reviews before the client sees it / student retains] |
| Memorandum (internal) | [Supervising attorney reviews / student retains] |
| Client letter (appointment / document request / brief status) | [Supervising attorney reviews / student sends directly] |
| Client letter (substantive advice / bad news) | [Always supervising attorney—not overridable] |
| Draft filing (court / agency) | [Always supervising attorney—not overridable] |
| Status update to the court | [Always supervising attorney—not overridable] |
| Research kickoff roadmap | [Student uses directly] |
Some gates are non-negotiable: client letters giving substantive advice, court filings, and status updates to the court are always routed to the supervising attorney under the clinic supervision structure. Mark these as fixed; the configurable gates are routine items.
Step 6: Cross-plugin check
Do you want students to use skills from other plugins? I can wrap them in a supervision layer—students run the check, the output is marked with uncertainty for you to review, and nothing goes out without your sign-off.
Provide concrete examples relevant to the practice area:
- Contracts/transactional clinic:
commercial-legal:review(NDA triage, vendor review), after wrapping, students run the review and the output is marked for supervising attorney review before it goes to the client. - Labor and employment clinic:
litigation-legal:chronologyused to build a timeline from client documents, marked for supervising attorney review before being fed into a filing. - Consumer rights clinic:
litigation-legal:subpoena-triagewhen the client receives a civil investigative demand, after wrapping, students draft a response but the supervising attorney signs off. - Any clinic:
privacy-legal:triageif students handle any matter involving personal data shared outside the clinic.
If the supervising attorney mentions desired cross-plugin skills, record: the skill name, when students use it, and what supervision wrapper applies (always reviewer, flag-only, or not to be used without the supervising attorney).
Step 7: Local rules and jurisdiction
Which courts does your clinic practice in? Which local rules or forms do students need to use?
Check CLAUDE.md → ## 管辖地—the province and main courts were set at cold start. This step is for practice-area-specific local rules and forms. Provide a short checklist to record, for student skills to use when drafting or advising.
Step 8: Write the guide
Write to ~/.claude/plugins/config/claude-for-legal-zh/legal-clinic/guides/<实践领域>.md. If needed, create the guides/ directory. Use the following structure:

Fill in each section based on the supervising attorney's answers. Leave a section blank only if the supervising attorney says it can be skipped—do not invent content.
Then tell the supervising attorney:
Your guide is located at
~/.claude/plugins/config/claude-for-legal-zh/legal-clinic/guides/<实践领域>.md. Every student working in [practice area] using the clinic plugin will have their skills follow it. Edit the file directly to change anything, or re-run/legal-clinic:build-guideto revise a section. You can have multiple guides—one per practice area.
Step 9: Provide a Test Run
Want to see how the teaching posture changes the experience? I will run
/legal-clinic:draftunder [posture] with a sample client letter—you will see the student perspective.
If the supervising attorney agrees, the simulated drafting skill reads the just-written guide and produces output under the configured posture. Complete one full cycle so the supervising attorney sees exactly what the student will see.
Output
This skill's "output" is the file written to ~/.claude/plugins/config/claude-for-legal-zh/legal-clinic/guides/<实践领域>.md . The conversation with the supervising attorney is the interview; the written guide is the artifact.
After writing, show a brief confirmation:
Guide written.
[实践领域]is now configured:
- Intake: [N] custom questions, [N] red-flag signals, [N] referral criteria
- Teaching: [default posture], overrides: [list if any]
- Review gating: [routed to supervising attorney vs. student summary]
- Cross-plugin: [N] skills wired in
Students will see these changes the next time they run the clinic command for this practice area. Feel free to edit
[路径]to change anything, or re-run/legal-clinic:build-guideto revise.
What This Skill Does Not Do
- Configure the plugin globally. Guides are per practice area. Plugin-global configuration (supervision style, jurisdiction, practice area) is in
/legal-clinic:cold-start-interview. - Draft student work product. This is configuration for the supervising attorney, not a draft for the client.
- Override the supervision style from cold start. The supervision mode (formal queue / configurable flags / lighter touch) is decided at setup. The review gating in the guide refines that mode for this practice area; it does not replace it.
- Make a student's skills skip AI-assist headers, confidence markers, or verification prompts. Those are the shared safeguards baseline. Guides change posture, not safeguards.
