About this skill

Research Brief (Question → Evidence → Conclusion/Gaps)

When to use this skill

  • Need to organize scattered materials or search results into a decision-ready brief.
  • Need to clearly define "known facts, assumptions, uncertainties, and next-step validation plan."

Required Inputs

  • Goal and decision context: What problem are we solving / what decision are we making?
  • Specific question list: priorities, success criteria, time constraints.
  • Existing materials: links, data, key points from expert interviews; credibility or bias.
  • Output audience: executive/technical/operations? Expected length and language.

Workflow

  1. Focus the question: Rewrite a 1–3 sentence problem statement + success criteria; list priorities.
  2. Organize evidence: Archive sources by question (data/documents/interviews), record source and date; flag credibility or potential bias.
  3. Analysis and judgment:
    • Distill key findings (fact + interpretation + impact).
    • Distinguish "fact vs. assumption vs. unverified risk."
    • When contradictions or gaps are found, write down the additional data/experiments needed.
  4. Output structure:
    • TL;DR (3–5 conclusions or insights, including impact and recommendations)
    • Key findings (grouped by question, with evidence citations)
    • Uncertainties and risks (missing data, sample bias, time-sensitive information)
    • Next steps (what to validate, how to do it, by whom, deadline)
    • Appendix: source list, citations, data methodology notes.
  5. Quality check: Citations are traceable; figures note methodology/time; clearly state the parts that are "I don't know" or "still need validation."

Output Format Example

Present with Markdown paragraphs and lists; when citing sources, annotate in parentheses (来源/时间); if it is an assumption, mark it [假设]; recommend using a table to list "Question / Key Findings / Evidence / Risks / Recommended Actions."

Final Checklist

  • Each conclusion can be mapped to specific evidence or noted as an assumption.
  • Gaps and next-step validation methods have been marked.
  • Readers can understand the background, conclusions, and recommended actions without additional context.
