Write or update a handoff document so that the next Agent with a fresh context can continue this work.
Steps:
- Check whether
HANDOFF.mdalready exists in the project. If it already exists, read it before updating to understand the prior context. - Create or update a handoff document containing the following:
- Goal: the work we are trying to complete, including the TODO file currently in use.
- Current progress: the work and steps completed so far.
- Approaches that worked: methods/attempts that recently succeeded.
- Approaches that did not work: methods/attempts that recently failed (to avoid repetition).
- Suggested Agent Skills: the Agent Skill recommended for the next Agent to invoke after starting.
- Next steps: suggested action items for continuing the work.
Notes:
- Do not duplicate content already captured in other files (such as the PRD, plan, decision record, task ticket, commit record, diff, etc.); reference them directly by path or URL.
- If the user passed in arguments, treat them as a description of the focus of the next phase of work, and customize the handoff document accordingly.
Saving and delivery:
- Save the document as
HANDOFF.mdin the project root directory, and tell the user the file path so they can use that path to start a brand-new conversation. - Generate a short piece of text that the user can copy directly with the copy command and paste into a new conversation, so that the next Agent can quickly get the handoff document path and continue the work. For example:
我们继续上一个 Agent Session 的操作。 交接指令在 {path_to_handoff} ,请先读取它,并按该文件的指示进行操作。
