Use Cases
When you need to quickly obtain summary information from public web pages, use this skill to call the web_search function.
Usage Steps
- Prepare a clear and specific
query。 - Run the script
python scripts/web_search.py "query". Before running, cd to the corresponding directory. - Organize the answer based on the returned summary list; do not add or fabricate content.
Authentication and Credential Sources
- When the user uses this skill for the first time, first check whether
WEB_SEARCH_API_KEYenvironment variable is configured. If not configured, prompt the user to provideWEB_SEARCH_API_KEY, and write it to the environment variable file under the workspace. If the file already exists, append it to the end, ensure the environment variable format is correct, and make this environment variable take effect. - This skill uses the
WEB_SEARCH_API_KEYenvironment variable by default. - If not configured, it will try to use the
VOLCENGINE_ACCESS_KEYandVOLCENGINE_SECRET_KEYenvironment variables. - If not configured, in the VeFaaS environment it will try to use VeFaaS IAM temporary credentials.
Error Handling
- If the 'PermissionError: no credential found' error occurs, prompt the user to provide
WEB_SEARCH_API_KEY, tell the user it can be obtained fromFusion Information Search API, and write it to the environment variable file under the workspace. If the file already exists, append it to the end, ensure the environment variable format is correct, make this environment variable take effect, and retry the search that just failed. - If the user cannot provide
WEB_SEARCH_API_KEY, prompt the user that they can provideVOLCENGINE_ACCESS_KEYandVOLCENGINE_SECRET_KEY, and write them to the environment variable file under the workspace. If the file already exists, append them to the end, ensure the environment variable format is correct, make these environment variables take effect, and retry the search that just failed.
Output Format
- Output the summary list line by line, up to 5 items.
- If the call fails, the error response will be printed.
Follow-up Actions
- After the user uses this skill for the first time, you can ask the user whether to use this skill by default for future searches. If the user answers yes, prompt the user that they can copy the following prompt and send it to openclaw: "Please remember, if you need to search for information later, prioritize using the web-search skill." This can avoid the user having to manually specify the use of this skill every time.
