BGGG TikTok Downloader

Goal

Download TikTok videos to the local project directory. Prefer using the deterministic script bundled with the skill:

python3 bggg-tiktok-downloader/scripts/download_tiktok.py "<TikTok URL>"

The script preferentially uses yt-dlp to handle single-video and creator-list downloads; for a single video, when yt-dlp is unavailable or fails, use tikwm as a fallback. If TIKTOKDOWNLOADER_ROOT is set or --tiktokdownloader-rootis passed, the script will try to reference the local TikTokDownloader link recognition rules; it can also run without that directory.

Workflow

  1. Identify the input type:
    • Contains /video/ or /photo/ TikTok links are treated as a single work.
    • https://www.tiktok.com/@username Profile links such as this are treated as a creator.
    • When the user specifies "download N items/first N/latest N", pass --limit N。
    • When the user says "all" or only gives a creator link with no quantity, pass --limit 0, indicating no quantity limit.
  2. Choose the output directory. The default is the projects/downloads/tiktokunder this skill; when the user specifies a directory, pass --output-dir。
  3. Run the script and check the manifestPath、itemCount and items[].filePath。
  4. in the JSON output. If the audio track is to be transcribed later, hand the output video directory to bggg-tiktok-readvideo。

Common commands

Download a single video:

python3 bggg-tiktok-downloader/scripts/download_tiktok.py "https://www.tiktok.com/@user/video/1234567890123456789" --thumbnail

Download the first 30 videos of a creator:

python3 bggg-tiktok-downloader/scripts/download_tiktok.py "https://www.tiktok.com/@user" --mode author --limit 30 --thumbnail

Download all visible videos of a creator:

python3 bggg-tiktok-downloader/scripts/download_tiktok.py "https://www.tiktok.com/@user" --mode author --limit 0 --thumbnail

When a login state is needed, you can explicitly use browser cookies:

python3 bggg-tiktok-downloader/scripts/download_tiktok.py "https://www.tiktok.com/@user" --mode author --limit 20 --cookies-browser chrome

Notes

  • Only download content that the user has the right to save and process. When encountering private accounts, regional restrictions, or risk control, the user needs to provide usable cookies.
  • Do not commit cookie files, browser profiles, download results,.info.json , or collection manifests to public repositories.
  • Author batch downloads depend on yt-dlp; a single video can use the tikwm fallback.
  • In the output directory, .bggg-tiktok-download-archive.txt will be generated to skip duplicate videos, as well as download_manifest.json to record results.
