Image selection and upload

Professional capability to automatically generate images for WeChat official account articles, upload them to an image hosting service, and insert Markdown links.

When to Use This Skill

When the following scenarios are detected, automatically load this skill:

  • The user says "add images now", "help me add images", "add pictures"
  • After article review and proofreading is completed, an image selection need is mentioned
  • Article content is detected as complete but lacking images

Core Features

  1. Analyze image selection needs: Determine that 5-8 images are needed based on the article content
  2. Obtain image sources：
    • Public domain works (Wikimedia Commons, Google Arts & Culture)
    • AI-generated images (Volcano Engine doubao-seedream API)
    • Free stock libraries (Unsplash, Pexels)
  3. Automatically upload to image hosting: Call the ImgBB image host to obtain a permanent link
  4. Insert Markdown: Insert the image links into the corresponding positions in the article
  5. Verify display: Ensure all image links are valid

Image Quantity Guidelines

  • Recommended: 5-8 images
  • Minimum: 3 images (feature image + 2 body images)
  • Maximum: No more than 10 images (to avoid excessively interrupting reading)

Image Placement Strategy

Required Image Placements：

  • ✅ Feature image (cover image): Below the title, required
  • ✅ Core sections: 1 image for each key section

Optional Image Placements：

  • Theoretical support (e.g., citing classic works)
  • Data visualization (comparison images, charts)
  • Case supplements (product screenshots, examples)

1️⃣ Public domain works (highest priority)

  • Source：Wikimedia Commons、Google Arts & Culture
  • Applicable: Classic artworks, portraits of historical figures, covers of ancient books
  • Advantages: Free, no copyright issues, high quality
  • Example: Van Gogh's "The Starry Night", portrait of Kant
  • Operation: Use WebFetch to obtain image links from Wikimedia Commons

2️⃣ AI-generated (recommended)

  • Source: Volcano Engine doubao-seedream-4-0-250828
  • Applicable: Feature images, concept images, abstract themes
  • Advantages: Original, customizable, fast
  • Operation: Call the API to generate images and return temporary URLs

3️⃣ Free stock libraries

  • Source：Unsplash、Pexels、Pixabay
  • Applicable: Feature images, concept images, background images
  • Advantages: Free, high quality, commercially usable (CC0)
  • Operation: WebFetch search + download

4️⃣ Screenshots/official materials (source must be cited)

  • Source: YouTube, Bilibili, product official websites, movie posters
  • Applicable: Case images (product screenshots, video screenshots)
  • Note: Cite the source, fair use principle
  • Operation: Remind the user to take screenshots themselves, or generate AI concept images as a substitute

Markdown Insertion Format

  • Fill in meaningful image descriptions (alt text)
  • Image descriptions should be concise and highlight the image content

Size Specifications

  • Cover image: 1200x600px (16:9)
  • Body image: 800-1200px wide
  • People/Products: 800x800px (1:1)

File Specifications

  • Format: JPG (photos) / PNG (illustrations)
  • Size: < 500KB
  • Naming: lowercase, semantic, English (e.g. mrbeast.jpg, starry-night.jpg）

Path Specifications

  • ✅ Web links:https://i.ibb.co/xxxxx/image.jpg(recommended, permanently valid)
  • ❌ Local paths: no longer use local paths (they will become invalid when copied to WeChat Official Account)

Copyright Notes

  • ✅ Public domain works (author deceased for more than 70 years)
  • ✅ CC0-licensed images (Unsplash, etc.)
  • ✅ AI-generated images (confirm tool license)

Image Checklist

Before executing the image task, confirm the following:

  • The article has been reviewed and the content is stable
  • Determine the number of images (5-8)
  • Determine image positions (header image + core sections)
  • All images have been obtained (AI-generated/public domain/free stock)
  • All images have been uploaded to ImgBB image hosting
  • Image links are permanent web links (starting with https://)
  • Images have been inserted in Markdown (using web links)
  • Image descriptions (alt text) have been filled in
  • All image links have been verified (accessible normally)

Execution Steps (5-Step Standard Process)

Step 1: Analyze the article and determine image requirements

  • Read through the full text and mark key sections
  • List the image requirement checklist (6-8 items)
  • Determine the position and role of each image

Step 2: Obtain/Generate Images

Obtain images according to the image source priority:

  1. Public domain works → WebFetch retrieval
  2. AI-generated → call API to generate
  3. Free stock → WebFetch search
  4. Screenshot materials → remind the user to provide them

Common Questions

Q1: Will temporary links to AI-generated images become invalid?

A: Yes. Therefore, you must callupload_image.pyUpload to ImgBB to obtain a permanent link.

Q2: What should I do if image hosting upload fails?

A: The script has a fault tolerance mechanism and will automatically fall back to the original URL. However, it is recommended to check the ImgBB API configuration.

Q3: Does every article need to include images?

A: Images are recommended, especially for long articles (over 3000 words). However, short articles (under 1000 words) can include only a title image.

Q4: Can local image paths be used?

A: Not recommended. Local paths become invalid after being copied into the WeChat official account editor, so web links must be used.
